i went up to these girl and i guess you could say they looked like hippies, with the long hair,tie-dye, long skirts etc... then i asked them what type of music they liked and they were laughing at me, they were like "i love being a hippy chick" isn't being a hippy mean s you're supposed to be nice and tolerable...maybe they don't like me because i'm black...i didn't know hippies were racist
You're beingf steroetypical. You assumed that since they looked like hippies they must be hippies. You further assumed that since they must but hippies that they must be nice. And that's your problem.
not only do they hate blacks, but also jews and asians and south-pacific islanders and western europeans.
yeah i'm being stereotypical maybe, but they arn't negative implications..."all hippies are nice" how is that bad?
its anoying to be stereotyped... i for one would look like a hippie, but i dont consider myself to be one... i am no pacifist, i am simply an artistic mind with a favour of psychedelic drugs, the doors, jimi hendrix and going back to nature. now, if some person i never spoke to before walked up to me with a big grin saying "your like, a hippie, right ? what kinda music u like ?" i would probably be rude.
I really don't know what the hell I am, but if you walked up to me and spoke to me friendly like that, i'd wouldn't be mean.... I mean, after all, you're just asking about music. A lot of people have things against people if they're black around here... I see it all the time and feel like saying something about it, but I'd rather just mind my own business. Don't take it to heart, you know. It doesn't matter what your skin color is if you're a good person.
1) Not all hippies look like hippies and not all who look like hippys are hippys 2) Why would their laughter have anything to do with your skin colour? maybe it was because they found your question funny? 3) Just because someone laughs, doesn't mean they're being mean
IT depends on how they laugh, and usually people can detect bitchy laughs. I detect them all the time. Mostly from preppies who laugh at me just because I'm simply attempting to talk to them.
Maybe cos your meeting Hipies and not Hippies?! (JOKE! Don't get mad with me!). lol People are people at the end of the day and there's good n bad in them. Sadly, some Hippies can be rude, but so can some Priests, Nurses, Policemen..etc, You get my gist. lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. I laugh at you.
Hate to break it to you, but hippy is just a kind of people, and every group of people has flaws and flawed individuals. Maybe you are supposed to be decent, everyone should hippy or otherwise. Not everyone will though, and bitches come in many guises and outfits. No idea what they're issues are. You could always march up and ask. Otherwise just give them a wide berth. No need to waste time and effort on people like that. It's a shame you have a bad experience, there are good people out there. Not necessarily hippys. TTFN Sage
there were some bitchy preps in my old school who wore tiedye just because they wanted to look different, thats prolly who you met(not the exact same people but you know)
I don't think she's being stereotypical at all. Hippies in the 60's were called hippies when they shared beliefs and views about peace, love, not fighting, nonviolence, and anti-establishment, etc. So by saying that hippies should be more loving and peacful, I think she's completely accurate. So many people here are like "Yeah, I think I'm a hippie" but then start huge fights and senseless arguements, saying violent and mean rudes, completely disrespecting their brothers and sisters.
I don't like being stereotyped either, but being called a hippie is harmless to your reputation. You know what you are, just play along with it and be nice if someone calls you a hippie. I get that all the time and either just brush it off or go full out dead head lingo with a heavy emphasis on peace and love; it's just fun sometimes.
I just dont even act different than I had been when people call me "hippy-boy". it doesnt bother me, i dont think im a hippy or anything for that matter, i just let other people do the judging. also when i wear tiedye(which is pretty much all the time) i get called gay alot. but hey whatever, no point in trying to change people like that because they dont wanna change, they like being the ignorant assholes who think they are better than everyone
'Hippies' are a multi-dimensioned folk. Some people are called hippies by other people because their views seem like those of the stereotypical hippie, some people are called hippies because their clothes seem similar to those of the stereotypical hippie, there are all kinds of reasons why someone would be considered a hippie by another person. Sometimes they don't wear signs that say 'Hippie' around their necks, most of the people that participated in the countercultural movement of the sixties (those would be the actual hippies, not those that seem to fit in with the hippie ideal or the cartoon stereotypical hippie) wear t-shirts or jeans or even on occasion - SUITS. Maybe these girls that you met just like long skirts- it could happen! Not everyone you see on the street in a long skirt and tye-die is going to have put it on thinking of the '60s. Maybe they listen to Ted Nugent and their other clothes are in the wash. Some people who are trying to be hippies will be racist. Maybe the people that you met were racist hippies. Not all the people that you would consider hippies are nice, and just because someone that you consider a hippie is racist doesn't mean that all of the people that consider themselves hippies are racists. As strange as this may be, hip folk don't all call each other in the morning and mull over their positions as far and tolerance. Don't let it sully your idea about the countercultural movement of the sixties. Or people that wear long skirts.
Duh, How, Indian, how's dah condition your condition iz in, wit duh hair, duh long hair dah long long Hair? hip HeePee
