My wife and i have a very loving relationship. The first couple years i'd rub her back and make her comfortable during her PMS. AS the years went on she rejected my sympathy towards helping her. Now i put a little dot on the calender 2 days before because she is 28 days, I can set a watch by it!! Wakes up bitching and usually yells about dumb stuff. A sock laying on the floor, a dish in the sink, Her car needs cleaned, She hates her job, Points out what needs done to the house, I just ignore her. It'll be ok in 7 days.

You are lucky it is only a few days a month. My loving dh acts like this ALL the time. And he doesn't get a period to make things better. In fact, he just came in ranting about the computer (which is not mine) that needs a room cleaned to set up. It isn't my problem, but, being the womyn of the hosue, I guess it is by default. I told him I was on Holiday. ;)

i have not read this whole thread yet (just the first page), so you'll have to excuse me (please) if this was already mentioned and i missed it :) ....

a lot of women get bitchy, or experience pms before and during the first few days of their period because of flunctuating levels of hormones.... estrogene and the other one that i cant sp- progresssdfsadf??

Guys... you know cramp?? that thing you get sometimes in your leg, or neck muscle?....Imagine getting it in an internal organ... spasmodically, perhaps every 20 minutes for three days. Sometimes its feels like you are being ripped apart from the inside by a very small tiger..., sometimes it feels as painless as a chimney sweep going up and down and up and down with his circular headed, bristle tools. Other times its a fluid and never ceasing agonising ache, like being roasted. Somtimes you can't move, beucase you only just..[after nine hours] of trial and error throughout the day.. found a position that you could relax in.

The pain..of a period, is enough at times.. to go 'garggghhh!!!!! why why why?? fuck you god!..' and to handle this type of simmering 'discomfort'
WE use visualisation and deep breathing to feel better..this takes energy and focous...and if we lose that, for whatever reason...ie; [you have interrupted us for NO GOOD REASON!...we may very well go mental.

Other reasons for not being the ususal self..include...the fact that no sex will be an option...and if we die within the next three days.. its means we're never going to have sex again.

We don't fancy sex. right now, our womb is being hung, drawn and quartered. ...so why dont they [men] just go away?

we feel pretty sensitive! it's not that subtle a thing...sometimes it shows...we feel a bit uptight because we're trying to prevent bleeding on the seat.

it's also pretty amazing...you know when you have an accident and you start bleeding all over the place..you're like 'woha! im human!, im pretty surprised this doesnt happen more often..what with all these sharp edges lying around..and my skin being made of quite a puncturable quality..shit..id better be more careful..' etc...

on a period..it's like that...for three days...and its an open wound...you can't put a bandage on it..and the blood keeps coming out!

You're more aware of the dangers of being human...the reality of blood and how you actually quite like it, and dont really enjoy losing it.

so yeah.we get 'edgy' and even though we are bleeding allthe time we're alive...most of the time we dont realise it...until you can literally see it and feel it. its cool and scary at the same time...mortality and all that type of fears come up and start getting wild...

imagine if it happened on your arm...and you were just wondering about school/work...and everyone was supposed to ignore it like it was nothing! everyone says ''ooohhh whats that' when you have a bandage...Or sometimes they say..'lets have a look' ahahahahahahahahahah
