Cuba offers to send 1,100 doctors to New Orleans. The message came friday, and said 100 doctors could be sent already the same day, and said 1,000 doctors can be sent saturday and sunday. 26,4 tons of medicin is ready to be sent, and Castro offers a ideological cease-fire. Cuba is waiting a green light from the US for the dispatch.
Stupid American presidents. Why do they piss on Cuba anyways. That shit with atom bombs and communism is BS from the past.
Apparently, the Bush administration would rather let Americans die. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,16477519%255E1702,00.html
This illustrates how stupid the U.S.'s refusal to have relations with Cuba is. "So, what do we do when the doctors decide to stay here?" -Are you saying that an extra 1,100 doctors in the U.S. would be a bad thing? And why do you think they'd stay? Elian Gozalas' father was invited to stay. He didn't want to. He went back to his homeland with his son. Do you think that if Cuba suffered a disaster on this scale the bush would offer to send that many doctors to Cuba? Not a chance.
The only reason people are running from cuba is that the US is keeping Cuba a poor country. It is a poor country and still they offer 1100 doctors and alot of medicine. America should be ashamed for what they did to cuba. Why can Bush be friend with co-fascist Putin and not with Cuba. I mean Russia also pointed nuclear weapons to the US. Putin used to be a KGB spy. Only one difference. Russia is a big country with alot of oil and a good market for american products. America is just as stupid as Turkey. Turkey vs Cyprus US vs Cuba. It is all pride and money
He was also offered money. I think it was 2 million dollars, but I'm not completely sure. Anyways, he refused to accept the offer, because he meant his son would be far healthier in Cuba than in the US. They have tried to bribe athletes, politicians, etc. An athlete, when being offered several million dollars, he said something like "I would rather have 13 million Cubans behind me who support me, than 13 million dollars". I remember reading an article where it was stated that 70 percent of those leaving have been bribed by the US. The US use around a 100 million dollars each year for propaganda purposes against Cuba. Imagine if, say, half of these, 50 million dollars are used to bribe Cubans. Imagine living in Norway. Say Spain and Norway had a tense relationship, and Spain tried to bribe you with 12 million dollars, would you leave?
So, how many doctors are making it in? What's the count, where are they? Fuck political rhetoric right now, give us some substance. If no on the ground substance, give us food. Give us WATER. Please provide some substance. Thank you.
Don't mean to be rude but people are dying, right now while you wile away trying to sharpen your ideological axe. If you can't helpt the folks in the south, focus on others. Peace brings peace through presence.
Answer: Currently none. Why? Answer: They are awaiting a green light from the US government. Cuba is still awaiting a response from Washington. It is up to the US state. Medicine is piled up, but they can't enter the US without permission from the US government, or they would have been shot down, or it would be an excuse for the US to initiate a war. So Cuba is waiting, and the US is not giving an answer, and people are dying in New Orleans because the US does not give the permission to enter the US. No, this is not about ideology, but the fact that the US are indirectly killing people. Like Castro said, this is not about adversy. They are not trying to kick a man that is down. It is about Cuba wanting to rescue Americans but the US letting these people off to die. These 1,100 doctors Cuba want to send have international experience. They have been to places where kids are having yellow shit, are about to die, and are having blown-up stomachs. They have been treating these people in the middle of civil wars, accross minefields, in the line of fire. They have been through hell, and are perfect in areas where crisis exists, like New Orleans. If I was contaminated, lacked food and water and medicine, I would be very pleased to visit a doctor. Nationality would not be a concern. However, it's a bonus that these are the world's best doctors. But hey, what's the point if the Bush-administration does not want massive and highly needed help from Cuba?
yeah, because cuba isn't still communist. oops, sorry, i forgot...."true" communism has never existed in any failed regime...
During Hurricane Reagan, when the # of homeless people (who rrr called "campers") skyrocketed. Americans were freezing to death on the strets of our cities. Poland tried to send thousands of wool blankets to the U.S. but the U.S. refused to accept them, and people continued to freeze to death.
Cuba is socialist. 'Regime' means government. How can a social system exist independently in (or rather, inside) a government?
What i meant was that Communism is not something to be afraid of anymore. That you don't have to be afraid to get Abombed by some communist state. (Only North Corea can still Abomb us but that won't happen and China is a big friend and is becomming very capitalistic)
Anyone want to lay odds on how many Cuban doctors will difect instead of going home to thier island. They can't send a baseball team here because the players will jump the fences and request asylum !
My Wife's Cousin is a Cuban Doctor, serving in Venezula. The Cuban Doctors receive payment in dollars for serving overseas, if they stay home, they are paid in Cuban Pesos. She has another 1st Cousin who served as a medical doctor with the Cuban army in Angola. This was when Mr. Carter was U.S. President. He is in Miami now. He floated over on a raft. He said that some Cuban servicmen contracted aids during the Angola campagain and that they live quarantened now in like a leper colony, on the Island of Cuba. His medical doctorate is no good in The US, but he works in the hospital. Her Aunt has been unable to purchase a new shower curtian since the revolution. They have limited food on the Island. In 1968, my wife was 17 years old The Cuban goverment shot her father and her 16 year old brother. They were attempting to leave on a boat. Then she and her mother were flown to the USA. Most of the family has left The Island, thank God. They are still very patriotic. My Wife is very nutural in politics, being hurt from the tragdey. The family has no taste for the Mas Canosa brand of politics. Do not belive it when The N.Y. Times brands them all right-wing freaks, it's a charachture. When they were young, My Wife and all of her cousins lived together in a big house in Havana. Now the building is full of fidelistas who are afraid that "The Yankees" will come back and take thier house back. This is the base of support for the dictator, He has distributed confiscated property much the same way Oliver Cromwell did in 1649 in England. When Charles II and Clarendon put forth The Declaration of Breda in 1660. It stated that the revolutionaries could keep thier peoperty when the royal house of Stuart was restored to the throne of England. It led to The Restoration, that year. It would be nice if the Cubans in Miami had thier own Declaration of Breda you would see the dictator fall in short order.
