Greetings,I am organizing an Anti-war / Peace protest in a very high profile area of my state; The Colorado (Denver) Capital Building. I was curious if anyone could assist me with something. This question is mainly geared to older hippies or to anyone who has had any experience in organizing / attending protests.Should I obtain a permit? What are the true benifits and or disadvantages of going through the state for them to "allow" us to protest? Would it be more productive (i.e. more media coverage, possible arrests etc.) or less productive? I would imagine that most protest(ers) back in the day, didn't bother with permits or anything of that sort, is this a viable option in todays world of activism? Should it be? And what sort of protest do you feel makes a stronger statement;A loud megaphone type lead crowd, or a silent vigil type?Thank you for your help, it is very appreciated. what are your plans? You do know we have 3rdNovember holding the local on Sept. 24? At the Capitol. Usually the protesters of the protesters are in the park to the west, between the capitol and city building. IF you count the residents of the park, they are still a miniscule amount. I'll be there. Look for a chica with waist+ length RED hair and glasses drumming. pix of me in my gallery (which is odd.I usually shoot the pix) but to your questions as a vet of many a protest (started with Comanche Peak Power plant in Texas pre-teen) permits mean to cops can't make you leave. If you plan on megaphone/PAs (3November will have them) I'd want that base covered. Look up 3November (org?) and see if somone will answer your brass tacks questions. Silent vigils are a totally different vibe and message. Its a "Look, we aren't going away and look at this astounding loss" sort of message. Noisy protest can be we are positive change, we are angry and we are NOT going to take this, or We are so many that you must hear kinds of things. whatcha thinking, bro?
