Rainbow help for Katrina-displaced folks

pretty sure that Green Circus & Granola Funk plan on going to where the people are to lend a hand; there's not even gas for people to get to the woods, besides the factors you mentioned, and the inaccessability to the woods due to downed trees

 

agreed, going to the forresst makes no sence, the people need help in the towns & cities, i think a kitchen within a few blocks of the convention center & another near the stadium or airport is a great idea, & what about calm?
any plans in the works for calm going to help out?

 

which convention center? New Orleans? they won't let anyone in New Orleans without proper credentials. bout to go check with Austin folks to see in Food not Bombs is doing a Zilker Park feeding or what-Zilker isn't very far from where some of the refugees are housed. the Funk & Green Circus might be heading toward Mississippi & Alabama-those folks aren't getting much help cuz everyone is wrapped up with New Orleans

 

well i think we have a way of being able to get around the baricades & go where we are most needed wether the powers that be want us thee or not...the people in need would be overjoyed to have us there...so i say go where the need is greatest, & if they try to stop us use the old rainbow magic to confuse them into submission & slip on by to where we need to be

 

it has been sooo long since i visited this forum that i forgot my info and had to make another account. I knew with all the devastation someone here would be doing something to help. I live in Indiana just a few miles south of indianapolis. I cant offer much but i can come up with some clothes and canned goods and offer the weary travelers a place to rest up before you journey on. please let me know if you will be traveling through my area and can detour. I have a small kitchen and I'm itchin' to get down there somethin' fierce. I have help and the ability to manifest food and supplies. I can leave the week of the 12th and be gone for about a week. I would really like to be around family. Where do I go? How hard is it to find gas down there?

gas is hard to get, best to top off every chance you get, maybe bring a few 5 gal cans. one kitchen heading down from NC is Nola's Ark.

it might be wise to connect with the other Rainbow kitchens to see where each is heading. we'll try to get a kitchen connection thread going on alt.gathering rainbow and make sure all info gets back here to HipForums. we're trying to get a direct e-line with the other kitchens, but so far no word.

 

i hope that u all who decide to go down there go well prepared and are EXTREMELY self-sufficiant.
many displaced i feel will come to Shawnee and the other coming gatherings and my place is there. i am currently in broad ripple in indianapolis trying to procure gas money and basic supplies for Shawnee seed camp.
i read a north Georgia regional a few threads ago will be beginning oct 15? that will be another gathering i think alot of displaced will go. this problem will be needing 2 be dealt w/ for months.
i honestly think the best way we can help people is to get them to a gathering or out of the immediate area.

NOLA's Ark, with my lady and I on board, is departing from Asheville, NC, probably Friday. The hold up is mostly related to finding a place to land. We won't be able to afford to drive a sk00lie all over south LA/MS/AL looking for a place the Offishuls will let us set up shop, and, yes, we're in touch with those Offishul Guvmint folks. Latest word from Green Circus is that they have landed in Gulfport, and are feeding a couple hundred per day.

If anyone wants to see whats going on, go to New Orleans imc.org, go to phillyimc.org, and see what's happening in that area of houston, those people are locked in the superdome, and no way out. The food and medical supplies is not goping to the people for six days, they are not being told where they are going as they get on a bus. Again this is genocide, where is FEMA, AND WHAT ARE THEY DOING??? tHIS IS HORRIBLE, TO SEE our own people, under the Bush regime suffering. And now the military is down there they have guns. THERE ARE THOSE, WHO HAVE JUST taken the food, and supplies, because they are so poor.

 

It's dangerous down there, with the National Guard, and the military setting up, coming straight from Iraq, and these people know how to kill, Now I'm scared for the family, stay safe, and disease water, with many toxics in them, everything runned over in the water of New Orleans. Six days they have had no supplies, and no food and water. It's very pitifall, leave it to Bush, they're very balistic to the poor. God Bless the Family.

We're puttin' together a benefit concert in a couple weeks and wonder who/where would be the best folks to send the proceeds to. If Granola funk or CALM is headed down, We'd like to send it their way unless another kitchen needs it more...
