Best music ever, at least, for me. I play drums and its the funniest music style to play, no doubts about that. Ohh Dave Weckl what a genius.
i dont listen to that much jazz, but it is really great music for learning improvinisation. Many of my improvs. are based very closely off of jazz
a man (just assuming) after my own heart. Although I wouldn't say Kenny G is the worst example. Normally I use Glenn Miller as an example of non-jazz that's often mistaken for jazz. Gershwin's another one. Myself jazz is my main area of music. What I really like about it is walking into a session, turning up and playing with people you've never met, with no music in front of you, yet instantly being able to connect and make something special, just by knowing a few tunes.
yeah, but Kenny G is the most popular out of the three. you play saxophone, dont you? ... *looks at name*.. when did you start playing the sax?
Ages ago. Been playing since I was 10. Blimey, Kenny G more popular than Gershwin? I'd never have thought it possible! Next you'll be telling me that McFly are more popular than the Beatles.
No, I'm sorry, that would be show tunes. Have a nice day. (btw, I do enjoy a good show tune every now and then).
yes i can play jazz, but i choose not to (whats so fucking hard about it? all you have to know is maybe 2 modes and to improvise along with some fag singing "a doo doobaloop doop doo") the only example of jazz that i can think of that isnt utterly horrible is coltrane. and yes, that means everything you listen to is shit. your music taste is by far inferior to mine and always will be.
actually, dave brubeck is the keys player and desmond is the saxofonist... you're right about desmond writing that tune though... I don't think take five is their best song... I think Blue Rondo is better (some great solos and 9/8 is just way groovier than 5/4...) but it's not the best either... I always enjoy unsquare dance (7/4 really minimalistic stuff) and three to get ready (two measures 3/4 followed by two measures 4/4 etc.)... I don't know, can't choose. I can't play jazz (yet, I want to learn on the piano, I can already sing it though ) but I listen to it a lot... scofield is very good, so are coltrane, davis, metheny, gershwin and armstrong...
