Would Dumb-Ass be the Reciprocal or Opposite of Smart-Ass?

Let's do some math.

The Smart-Ass/Dumb-ass reciprocal/opposites cannot be answered unless you define Dumb-Ass in terms of Smart-Ass (or vice versa).

If (Dumb-Ass) = -(Smart-Ass) then opposite.
If (Dumb-Ass) = 1/(Smart-Ass) then reciprocal.
Else Dumb-Ass is neither opposite nor reciprocal of Smart-Ass.

Theorem: Dumb-Ass cannot be both opposite and reciprocal of Smart-Ass. Here's the proof. First, assume the theorem is false. Then it follows that:
-(Smart-Ass) = 1/(Smart-Ass)
-(Smart-Ass)/1 = 1/(Smart-Ass)
-(Smart-Ass)^2 = 1
(Smart-Ass)^2 = -1
(Smart-Ass) = i
i is imaginary (by definition of i)
Smart-Ass is imaginary
It is intuitively obvious that Smart-Asses are real and do exist
Thus the theorem cannot be false.
Thus the theorem is true.

You really can't use maths for linguistical purposes, that's the thing.

Words weren't 'made' in mathematical system, so that's the main mistake you made there.

So, for that reason; don't mix mathematical issues with linguistical issues.
