Well, Im dry again and I just scraped my pipe as best I could with a paper clip. Theres still a while lot of resin still in there, and I was wondering if anyone knows of an easier way to clean out your pipe, but still save the res?
If you clean it out with rubbing alcohol (no salt), then let the alcohol evaporate, you can smoke what is left in the tray or whatevre. I feel you bro, I'm dry too.
cut a metal clothes hanger to about 6 inches long and bend the end into a handle, that works the best.
yeah, no matter of scraping or boiling will ever get ALL the resin...with alcohol, you can get pretty damn close though, and not risk breaking your peice. let it sit overnight and make sure the alcohol all evaporates, though, so it takes some time.
with alchohol you have to wait though, which i can't do. I prefer scaping it, as long as i can get somewhat hihg off of it.

I was told by a friend that the resin you get from cleaning your pipe with alcohol is bad for you. Now I have no way to prove this, it sounds like bullshit to me, but if anyone has any input on the safety of this message, feel free to post.
Pipe resin is said to be mostly tar, and very little THC, but I still get high off it, I used %99 Iso, to evaporate quicker you could put the plate ontop of a pot of boiling waterm then it takes about 10-20 minutes, I dont know why they call it purging, but it comes out with some pritty oily stuff, I had to find other ways to smoke it cuz it would melt into my screen. So I thought meth and put the resin ontop of a razor blade, which I held with sizzors and then had the lighter under it until it started to smoke alot, then I held the mouthpeice to it and inhaled it hahaha. It worked pritty sweet actually, Im kinda like a mcgyver smoker lol.
Well you can wait, and smoke nastyass resin for a tiny buzz. Or start scraping with clothes hangers and shit and break your piece. I have done both many times, trust me.
Well it's not like you can just go down to the corner store and buy buds. Sometimes supply is low.. and the growers/big suppliers get very protective of their herb.
resin is very bad for you regardless of whether or not you use alcohol, and unless you don't allow the alcohol to evaporate COMPLETELY, this means of procuring resin is no more dangerous than smoking scraped resin. of course, it has to be just pure alcohol (maybe with some water...i wouldn't use below 90%, but preferably 99% alcohol from the drugstore) but don't get that stupid scented/colored wintergreen stuff or anything like that.
also, the better pot you smoke, the better resin you end up with. thats why a lot of people i know have peices specifically designated as "nugs only" glass. the resin from nugs is generally softer, more gooey, and more golden and transparent than mids resign, which builds up as a dirty, black layer. both tend to get me rediculously stoned, but nugs resin is always far better, both in quality of the high and in duration. mids resin tends to get me quite stoned, but for a relatively short period of time.
i have a theory that will show that its not necessarily worse and maybe even healthier than smoking normal weed, but im too stoned to go through it at the mopment
Sorry for resurrecting this dead thread but I figured it'd be neater using the same one Anyway Is it worth trying to scrap res from a small chillum? Should I just wash it out or try to salvage it? I don't want to waste anything I can smoke ya know? I tryied using the paper clip method but the piece is so little there is no room to really pull anything out of the canal. I've never really smoked resin just kinda kept lighting it after the bud was gone, burning some resin off the bowl and getting something to smoke out of that but I was more curious about the canal and closer to the mouth side of the chillum. Is it worth trying to scrap little tiny amounts? It's such a small area I cant really scrap enough to pull out.
