I was wondering, have any of you ever read Edgar Allan Poe ; The Raven... That 'poem' fucking freaks me out... But if you're gonna read it, don't just read some of it and then say, eww this sucks... Read all of it, perhaps out loud that makes it even more scary, and think about it... either that or don't read it, cause it's brilliant but fairly long http://www.heise.de/ix/raven/Literature/Lore/TheRaven.html
It is kind of creepy. I once heard this old drunken man mumbling the poem in some street corner in London. He kind of looked like Poe too which made it even more creepy.
I think reading poems out loud always add emphasize and I am high right now, so I wonder what this will be like (by the way The Raven is probably my favorite) HOLY SHIT it was so much more amazing then before and yes Poe's style of horror is so great
the real amazing thing is that he cared so much more about the rhythm and didn't even realize how fucking great the imagery and mood was
I used to read a lot of E.A. Poe in high school and a bit before that. The Raven is an excellent piece of poetry, but even though it's so wellknown, I've never really heard anybody read it in quite a satisfying way. I have this odd idea of how it should be, but no one seems to share it with me. I have this recording of Christopher Walken reciting it, which is kinda funny because, you know, it's Christopher f**king Walken. Even though he never does flip out with his ungodly accent, I still can't get past expecting some weird "never-mooore" every damn time.
