i seem to get this problem every time i pop any kinds of pills.

a couple nites ago (bout 4, maybe) i ate 2500 mg's of tylonel gel caps, and after about an hour or so when the high had passed, my kidneys just started aching and getting worser and worser, as if the pills were causing problems while attempting to pass through my body.

and they still hurt. whats going on?

and yes i drink a lot of water.

wtf does tylenol have to do with codine...,if it was tylenol gelcaps why did you take so many thats just stupied, but if it was tylenol with codine and you wanted to do it to get a opaite high, cold water extraction would pretty much elimate the problem, you might have damaged or irrataed them,if the pain keeps up go to the doctor

well its not, there two different chemicals tylenol is not an opaite you have tylenol confused with tylenol III which a perscripsion drug that combinds tylenol also known as acetaminophen and codeine.

then you deserve the kidney damage you appear to have gotten. codeine is not in most tylenol products. tylenol is a brand, not a substance. what people refer to as tylenol is acetominophen, which is TERRIBLE for your liver and kidneys. i don't take it at all, no matter how bad my head hurts. there are other, safer medications. yeah, its fine in moderation for aches or pains, probably, but there aren't many parts of me as healthy as they should be, so i'd like to hold on to my liver for a while...

anyway, there is such a thing as tylenol with codeine, such as tylenol III, IV, and i think even as high as V. this is codeine with acetominophen, and if you want to use it safely you need to extract the codeine. you can do this by crushing up the pills and mixing it with COLD water. codeine is pretty soluble in cold water, acetominophen isn't very soluble in water unless it's warm. let it sit about 20 minutes half an hour and strain it through a shirt, handkerchief, or better yet pantyhose or something. works the same for all pills containing both opiates and acetominophen. may not get all the tylenol out, but it'll get most of it out. may or may not work when its mixed with ibuprofen or other analgesics though.

jesus christ, you're 18 fucking years old. i'd expect more rational behavior from a child. do some fucking research or you'll kill yourself. i suggest you see a doctor VERY QUICKLY and tell them what you did. with luck maybe it's fixable. i don't know. but if your sides still hurt after four nights, i'd say its a pretty fucking good bet you've fucked up something inside of you. i know plenty of people that do even stupider things than this, and thats sad, but this kind of thing still leaves me speechless. are you really that fucking dumb?

anyway, yeah. see a doctor. IMMEDIATELY.

    jesus christ...

a single exposure of 2500 mg's of Tylenol (aceteminophen) is very unlikely to cause liver damage, and much less likely to cause kidney damage. I would not make it a habit, though, by any means. Tylenol is very safe, so long as you don't combine it with alcohol, and you don't take more than 1000 mg every 6 hours.

Codeine is NOT in OTC Tylenol. There is absolutely no high from plain Tylenol. That is the ultimate placebo effect. . .

yeah, its not LIKELY to cause damage at that dose, but if he's complaining of severe abdominal pain in the region of the kidneys immediately after taking it lasting for a few days, i'd say the best bet is to see a doctor rather than brushing it off as "oh, its probably nothing"

your vital internal organs simply aren't anything to fuck around with. and who knows what else could have affected the situation? maybe he DID drink a little, maybe he took more than he thought, maybe he had whatever else could have possibly happened to him....but pain is pain, and it usually means SOMETHING is wrong.

Well, if he's still in pain, I would definately have it checked out. I agree that something is going on if he is still in pain. I doubt there is a causal relationship between the abdominal pain and single high-dose of acetaminophen, especially in an [otherwise healthy] 18 year old.

who knows how healthy he is otherwise though? you're taking that for granted. for all we know (or at least, for all i know...maybe you talk to him online outside of the board or read posts of his that i havent) he could be a raging alcoholic or something....

but with the "i don't really research what i take" attitude, chances are he's not exactly trying to hard to keep his body in good working order. i don't know that it WAS just a single high dose of APAP, perhaps theres more to it than that. but if he says his kidneys hurt....yeah....theres SOMETHING wrong.....

i just wish people would show a little more foresight and caution. its doing stupid things like eating tylenol that end up killing people. but whatever, not to sound cold hearted, but if you're too dumb to take basic precautions like knowing what drug you're taking, you're going to have to live (or die) with the consequences, whatever they are. if it's death, then it means one less dummy in the gene pool...

lol in the erowid vault it says right at the top... CAUTION
People seeking codeine experiences from medications that contain acetaminophen may be putting themselves at risk for acetaminophen-related complications such as liver damage.
    COMMON & BRAND NAMES
    Tylenol w/Codeine; Codate; Codephos
dont badmouth my erowid vaults by misquoting em!

Ive been reading this forum all day, its just so damn amusing and scary at what people are doing to themselves...but this one takes the cake.
