I am addicted to sour Altoids, and I love saving the tins. What are some nifty things I could do with them?

    Those things are fucking unbelievable!

    I eat them constantly.

It's kinda annoying in a good way.

    Sorry, I'm stoned... :D

I haven't had the sour altoids... are their cans like the regular ones? If so, this is how I use my old cans...

get a piece of board... evenly flat, but also it has to be wide and not very thick. Get some velcro and stick it to the board and on the backs of your cans. Stick paperclips, pins, sewing needles, beads, safety pins, all your other small crafting sulplys that need a home in them. paint the tins, label em, decorate them somehow. Hang the board on a wall or stick it on a table. If you hang it on your wall over your desk or craft station you can just reach up and grab off the tin that contains what you need. Simple and very little effort is envolved, hence why I like it, lol.

another thing I was thinking about trying but haven't yet is, making candles out of them. I was thinking of making some pepperminty altoidy smelling wax and pouring it into the tin... it wouldn't be long burning but it would be cute. or even a lip gloss could be cute in there. I guess I'll experiment with it soon.

I bet you could also, if you wanted to experiment cover a table in the tin tops... you'd prob have to work with it alot though.

this family craft magazine i used to get had a craft using altoid tins a while ago. make a mirrored compact. cover them with fake fur, or fabric, or paint them, or decoupage pictures from magazines on them, whatever. glue a small mirror inside the lid. keep lip gloss, face powder papers, whatever inside.

Heh everyone does that. People think it's like a big secret or something, keeping weed in an altoid tin.

I wish they put soap in little tins like altoids. Idk, I just think that would be a really good idea. So if you make your own soap, you could paint stuff on the tins, then put your soap inside.

Electronics geeks have been known to build complete radio stations inside an altoid tin:

, and as has been mentioned, they also work well for keeping a bit of weed, a lighter, and a pack of rolling paper in. :)

^^^on a similar note, alot of people build headphone amps with the smaller tins. Someone on the head-fi forums had a really good guide to building one, but dammned if I can find it.

You missed the deadline! The contest for the next edition of ReadyMade Magazine is to make something useful and unique out of Altoids tins! The deadline for submissions was June 15th.

It's a great magazine filled with all kinds of projects and creative ways to recycle things. If you have urges to use Altoids tins for things other than weed, you'd probably enjoy it.

    www.readymademag.com

I really enjoyed the links people posted for projects.

altoid tins could make a cute little cigarette case maybe. decoupage some pictures on one or paint it or something, stick your cigs in there and you've got a cute little crush-proof pack. or with the round ones, you could decorate the tin all funky and then make a set of matching coasters to be stored inside it and it could make a cute little gift for someone.

we keep push pins and nails in those sorts of tins. Really easy transport for shows.

Weird question, but do the sours contain gelitine? I know the mints and cinnamon do.

you can fill your altoid tins with buttons, beads, seeds, wallet pics of friends, stickers, hair clips, hair elastics, match books, pressed flowers, or spare change!
