Fur Farms

I saw a thing on fur last night. A woman said there were up to 400 fur farms in the united states alone. There was footage of some. I was so grossed out by this I just could not even believe it. The conditions were something froma horror movie. They said the average animal gets 1 hour a year under those conditions of attention. They are given no water and are fed the chopped up remains of the skinned animals they use for fur. It almost made me literaly sick!
Why is this shit still legal?! and fashionable!?

 

it makes me sick too. anyone who wears fur is pretty heartless. (jennifer lopez..you can rot in hell!)

yeah i have heard about places like that e.g mink, its horrible. the shouldnt be able to do it. but they do. its just wrong and sick, i dont own any fur, come to think of it i dont think i know anyone who does.

 

They were saying people dont even know thye own it sometimes because they pass it off as otehr things sometimes...also that sometimes instead of it really being fully fur they put filler in like dog and cat hair ( just shavings I think) and pass it off as expensive hairs because people dont know the difference.

Oh I was just asking because on the footage they talked about "screw jlo and he foxfur lashes... I was always under the impression it was faux fur and I thought that ment fake...guess I'm wrong

 

unfortunatley, nothing that J. Lo uses is "faux". infact peta has been trying to get her to stop using fur in her clothing line (they informed her about fur farms and the cruelty involved)and she basically came back and said she didnt care and that she would keep using fur.

 

Well, I don't think anyone needs to tell anyone that what goes on is cruel. They are killing animals for their fur..enough said. I got arrested for making a scene in our mall when a new store opened that sold all animal fur. But of course I was released after 30 minutes. Hehe. Someone needs to do to J.Lo and the others twits what Jim Carrey's character did in Ace Ventura 2. Punch out the guy whose wife was wearing fur around her neck and put him around his neck. Haha! i saw this mink fur farm footage on peta.org and it made me so sad and angry because they hang them by their back paws and sking them from the bottom up while they're still alive and slam them into the ground for no apparent reason. i have no idea why its still legal. why cant people just put themselves on the animal's place?

 

If you don't like fur...don't wear it. Just because you think it's wrong doesn't mean everyone else should. Vegetarian/Vegan lifestyles should not be forced.

I don't wear fur or agree with it but alot of anti-fur propaganda is just that....propaganda. None based on actual facts. PeTA found one or two bad farms that break the laws and act as if every fur farm on earth is that bad.

Who cares if Jennifer Lopez wears fur? She isn't forcing you to. You aren't forced to buy her clothes,watch her movies, or even think about her at all.

Jennifer doesn't view fur-bearing animals as equal to humans....get over it. Alot of people don't equate humans with people.

I am,personally, more concerned about the plight of people than I am of animals. I'll save a retarded baby before I save a smart dog if a building was burning down.

 

we dont think fur is wrong. we KNOW its wrong...and cruel...and vain....and just plain sick. if someone doesnt feel that animals deserve a happy and peaceful and unexploited, unabused life like the rest of us...well thats too bad. THEY DO....its not up to you to decide if you think they are unimportant. its not about you at all.....you dont get to decide if you think they are worth abuse. fur is WRONG. Period. no argurment about it.

 

Ok so murder is wrong if people do it to people but we can do it to animals that should be free to live in their own habitat...we can skin them alive and ware their skins on our bodies...like its prety...sorry I just think its much pretier in its own place in the wild then around someones feet for a nice pair of shoes or a high end jacket...or a purse. I don't like fur or leather and I dont ware it. On the other hand you arnt forced to read the thread if you dont like it eather. Everyone has tehir opinion I didn't push mine on anyone I just posted my own. If you think waring fur is right then how bout we start skinning human mamals and waring each other. Well, You are obviously a very cruel uncaring person that you wouldn't even CARE that animals are being killed in the world. Do you know that is half the reason why beautiful animals become extinct? You say Peta found a couple of farms that were horrible but not all of them are "that" bad? ALL of them are bad. Rather you kill them in a "humane" way or not. But really, who cares what people like you have to say. Especially that you would call someone RETARDED. People who are or are close to someone who is.. what you say "retarded" get really offended and mad at that word.

 

I love it how PeTA members assume that anyone who doesn't agree with their proganda is "obviously a cruel,sick,uncaring person".

I care that animals are being killed in the world. But I care more about endangered species and the "uncute" animals then I do about chickens,mink,..blah blah blah. Save a shark, feed it a PeTA-member. I also care more about humans then I do animals. Don't like it? Too fucking bad. I'm not wrong for feeling that way...despite what your PeTA-Borg collective tells you.

I do believe I stated that I neither wear fur nor agree with it, but I don't expect basic comprehension skills from the likes of you.


As for the "retarded" comment. The only people who get offended by that term are overly PC sheeple who also cringe at the word "midget" or if you refer to someone by their race rather then gray them out. That obviously is you.

I know many RNs, doctors, psychologists who used the term "retarded"...the definition of "retarded" is "slow". If you read a medical text book...what you PCers call mentally-challenged is actually called Mental Retardation.

Mental Retardation is the medical term for "retarded" people. Being called retarded(if you actually are)is not derrogutory. They are infact mentally retarded. It's not their fault and they shouldn't be penalized for it.

But the medical community and the rest of us sane people are not gonna use suger-coated petnames just to keep from offending people like you, who would die if you weren't in absolute control of everything.


I eat meat. I see nothing wrong with eating meat,hunting,fishing, wearing leather, or using glue. It isn't wrong in my opinion.

You wanna save the mink? go right on ahead...but the moment you try to infringe on my life and beliefs...you will be shoved right back.

 

While I agree with what has been said regarding factory farming of fur and fur for fashion in general, I don't quite agree with the fur is wrong...period sentiments.

Are native peoples of the northlands WRONG for using fur to stay warm?

I have a hat made of marten fur. One bullet, one marten, one hat. I wear this hat when I work outside to feed my family in the 50 below winters some of us northlanders endure. Is this wrong? One marten, one hat, no frostbite for fifteen years. Would the animal world been better off had I purchased a half dozen North Face hats over the years? Each man made hat supports marketing, manufacturing, and trucking for that hat. With this is fossil fuel use, deforestation for the paper used in catalogues and corporate memos, wild animal habitat taken for corporate office developments.

So each time I put on my hat I thank the marten and stay warm.

 

if i lived in alaska and had no way to keep myself warm other then shooting an animal and wearing its skins (just like the indians did way back when) then that is what i would have to do. however, most people who wear fur, which are the people i am talking about, dont wear it because otherwise they would freeze their ass off, they wear it because they think its fasionable or they simply like the look or feel of it. they dont do it out of NEED.there are plenty compassionate alternatives in this day and age and that are widely available to most people.
just like meat. if i absolutley had to eat meat to survive..well i believe most would agree that survival overrides morality and compassion. but fortunatley i dont need to( i am fortunate to have a choice)...so i dont. i respect your end of it freeinalaska...thats not the kind of wrong im talking about.

 

Elle I appreciate your understanding my side. I, too, am very against factory meat farming and fur use for fashion, as well as any abusive or cruel treatment to animals. After being a vegan for many years I began seriously trying to live a subsistance lifestyle. What I can provide for myself from the land, to feed my family with, has become life. While we have over an acre of organic garden we cannot survive on the vegetables we grow in our short season up here. Wild game as well as free range chickens are able to provide our protein. I know many animal rights and vegans are completely against using animals for anything, but I don't think that way. The moose I just killed is meat for the year. With every meal of his meat I thank him. For me living at one with the earth can and does include animal use... Use with great respect.

 

It is SICK. And unfortuneately, the government doesn't give animals rights, so it is legal for people to do this shit.


Fur is sick, and if you see anyone wearing it, tell them so!!
