You might want to check out Soulflower...I don't have their internet address, but if you plug it into google, it will likely pull it up. Also, if you put "hippie wear" or something like that along with the word, "Soulflower", it might bring it up faster. Good luck!

sarahstar- You're stuff is amazing! You're very talented. I love your bags, especially the ones with the mountain scenes & the faerie, & your prices are really really fair. I've bookmarked your site & the moment I've got some spare cash, I'm ordering something. Nice work!

As for soulflower, they have some nice bags. I bought a big multi-colour bag from there a year or two ago & its quality.

You could also search ebay for "hippie bag". I'm sure you'll find a lot of great handmade stuff.

I really loved the hemp side panel pants. How much do you charge for a pair of those?

thanks for the nice words about my stuff :)

for the pants ~ i'm working on getting a few premades up on my site this week, and i'm trying to get a couple pairs of pants up there.

ones like the pair on the site i do for around $30 but it really depends on what kind of fabric is used.

let me know if you have any questions, i'd be happy to do a custom pair.

get a bunch of pretty patterned cloth together, cut squares and sew together. cant be that hard. u could add a lining, no problem after the squares are sewn(wow...dont know how to spell)together. ive never made one, but a friend of mine makes them all the time and she just tried it one day, without any instructions or tips or anything and it turned out great! i bet if you try it, it will turn out amazing. best of luck to you:)

<< Does anyone have any instructions for making a patchwork purse/bag? >>

Well, I probably wouldn't have followed the directions, anyway. I always have to make my own mistakes and learn the hard way.

But I am still very interested in making strap purses. I sew drawstring bags all the time.

But it would be nice to make something different.

I always hand sew. I jam machines. I know one stitch -- the straight stitch.

I tried to make a lined shoulder bag.

Not very good, but I learned some useful lessons: sew the straps on the outer layer before connecting the lining, snip corners out of fabric when folding over to avoid building up layers of fabric to have to push a needle through, sew the lining first and then measure the bag to fit the lining and what I have always known but rarely pay attention to: wash and iron the fabric before cutting.

I'm going to try again. I'll use the first one as a sample of what not to do, and I found a store-bought lined bag in a drawer that I can take apart to see what to do.
