I made the mistake of moving to a state where there are no jobs, at least as far as Ive been concerned. Im considering (never had before, I am too attached to my drawings) trying to sell the artwork Ive been producing, but am not sure how to go about it. Any pointers?

get access to a gallery. ebay would be a good one. find a gift store that sells crafts. they rent space by taking out 20% or something out of a sale.

You can't really make money at all selling art. Maybe try some kind of craft instead.

Ive had some up and coming artist friends who could sell their work for 300-600, and usually sold at least one piece per month.

E-bay can help, Sell personally signed A5 prints for about $10 each + whichever sells the best that people seem to like, put the Original up with a minimum reserve price that U would accept for it.

Ebay seemed to work for a classmate of mine. He had prints made of his originals and sold them on ebay for a nice low price. It didn't make much, just enough for extra spending money really, but if you had quite a few you could probably make a decent enough amount.

I think ebay would work. I've never tried it and I don't know anyone who has, but everything sells on ebay. I think it's a great idea and I'd definately be willing to check out your work if you put it online.

E-bay seems un-promising. I browsed through a ton of artwork for sale- I couldnt find one which even had a bid.

I have sold a few paintings on ebay, however they have recently changed their policy on listing "featured auctions" in the art catagories.

Featured listing cost 20.00 each, however you are put in front of regular listings, I don't do featured as i can't afford 20.00 to list each painting, especially as i am still starting out.

A regular listing doesn't cost much, but make sure you put in key words in your title so people who are looking for a particular subject in your painting or drawing can go right to it instead of browsing through thousands of a mixture.

There are other sites you can list at and alot of people are leaving ebay to do this...artbyus.com is one of the gallery sites that is growing.
    Yahoo also runs auctions now...

My best advice is to go to ebay...choose "browse", go to art then to" self representing artists"...when the first page of listings comes up it will be "newly listed" (you won't see many bids here yet as they are new)...go over to the left of this page and scroll down a bit to where it says search options, a little window that says starting today is a drop down, click on the little arow next to starting today and choose "ending in 5 hours"....this will show you the art that is almost finished and what its last bids are, it will also show you what type of art is popular on ebay...

Folk art is also a good catagory to check out....
