Hey I was wondering if anyone out there could explain to me like I was a five year old what President Bush has actually accomplished in office.

What economic achievments has he made?

Has he reached anything worth noting in world politics? Has he signed any treaties or anything like that actually benifit the American people?

Has he signed any bills into law that benifit the American people economically in the long run like creating more jobs or anything like that?

someone please help me like my president if you can. what good has he done that is actually worth noting except Iraq. Lets please not talk about Iraq or terrorism in this discussion. I want to here about Bush the chief executive. the administrator. thanks

I'll tell you what good he's done. He's done VERY well for the richest people in the world...CEOs and the like, made corporations strong and solid, and he's done a very great job at dismantling the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights with the Patriot Act, abandon poor children and families with the Orwellian "no child left behind" bill, he's unsigned treaties like the Kyoto protocal, which was environment related, and he's now in the process of propping up a police state on American soil, dissolving the line between the military and domestic police, and literally turning us, and soon the world, into a militarized police state.

He's done a wonderful job at desecrating what is good, in favor for what is evil. And it's not just Bush, it's the entire administration, intelligence agencies, and Pentagon who have all simultaneously gone completely sour. For them, what is wrong is right, and what is right is wrong, and anyone who disagrees is a potential "terrorist".

someone on another thread said that the number of people owning homes is higher than ever which would be a positive thing...i don't know how much truth there is behind this but someone else said it...you could look back a few threads and find it and ask them about it.

Our economy is currently the strongest of the world's major economies

Peaceful disarmament of Libya's WMD program

Agreed to the largest nuclear arms reduction in history with Russia, effectively eliminating two thirds of weapons

    Democracy in Afghanistan

Shut down Pakistan's black market for nuclear weapons technology

Encouraged and supported the now completed Israeli withdrawal from Gaza

Could you please back that up with some data? My searches show that the rate is well below historical highs.

Every year since they started keeping track has been the highest number of people owning homes. The population keeps growing. This has nothing to do with Bush.

That's true, and its also largely true for the number of foreclosures and bankruptcies, and for the same reasons.

It figures that Pointbreak would claim that the passing of CAFTA is a good thing. You never surprise me PB...

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings."

Well, unequal sharing of blessings...if "unequal" means...NO sharing at all (except for those within the same class-bracket)

The top 20% of income earners pay 80% of taxes. You really have to move beyond left wing cliches if you want to be taken seriously.

That figure shows you just how much wealth there is in the upper class compared with the middle, working, and lower class. It's true the tax rate is higher for higher income groups, but the shear amount of income in the top quintile has an even greater effect on why the upper quintile accounts for 80% of the tax liability. There's just a lot of income in that group.

The middle class often get stuck. When it comes to tuition, middle class often don't qualify for the benefits that the lower income do yet they don't have the wealth to pay for it on their own.

Regarding the liability of taxes, I guess it depends on how you look at it. There are 313 billionaires in the U.S. and they are worth $1 trillion. Imagine the taxes that have come from that. The entire federal budget is about $2 trillion. So, is it good or bad that such high wealth accounts for a big chunk of the tax revenue?

Thanks for the link. With the spending on disasters at home and wars abroad, maybe there will be another fiscal responsibility movement in the U.S. like there was after all the spending in the 60s and 70s on Vietnam and other things.

Bush could personally come over to the houses of many Americans, pull a hundred bucks out their pockets, flush it down the toilet, and they'd be happy about it.
