Schwarzenegger said he would veto a bill to legalize same-sex marriage "out of respect for the will of the people," drawing heated criticism from gay rights supporters and cheers from conservative groups. Any comments? Here's the full article http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050908/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage
He was a weight lifter. Look on any weight lifting magazines. 90% of them are also gay porn stars. Ironic.
I agree with you on that Jorma, the asshole made empty promises way back when he was trying to get elected. lol, at above posts.
Gay marriage means little to me. I'm tired of this regime. When I get the means, I'm starting a sustainable living farm somewhere in the wilderness. I'll keep buying as much land as possible. I'll save as many trees as I possibly can and curse the grandchild who cuts down any of them.
He did in fact pose nude for gay magazines, and it's a not-so-secret secret that there's a Mr. Olympia afterparty in which the various competitors hire themselves out to rich weirdos and by so doing pay their steroid bills for the coming year. Schwarzy has no business becoming a moralist. Remember the pot smoking sequences in Pumping Iron? He's a massive multiple adulterer too
I was kinda curious what would be the gay reaction to this... I don't live in Cali, I'm not gay, plus I dunno if I want to get married, so it doesn't really affect me much. But he never really said he was opposed to gay marriage, but he thought that the issue should be voted on or decided by the California court system, which from a legal point of view, is fairly valid. I support gay marriage, but what does everyone think about letting either the voters or the courts decide rather then the legislature? I hoped it would pass, but if it'll go to a popular vote and pass that a way, I think it might be a better message anyway. But I don't really know how the vote'd do anyway, anyone have any polls? Anyway, good luck to anyone who's looking to get married in Cali.
you know lodui i don't care, to be quite honest. i realise it's sensible that gay couples should seek the same recognition and rights as breeder couples and fair enough. but i'm rather sick of the "gay movement's" great singular push for, what did i hear some queer anarchists call it, heteronormative gaydom, i think it was. meaning, that the gay movement's political strategy is to identify as closely as possible with straight institutions and values: gay marriage, adoption rights, family rights, equality in the church and in the military. in fact it seems almost de riguer that gays should want to prove themselves more normal than the straights. personally, i gain identity and sense of self by being wholly different from heterosexual society and i don't wish to merge with them in this sense. as a movement i think it's time we said war is anti-life and anti-gay and we don't want to join your army b/c we are for radical peace; the church oppresses and hates us, so they can get fucked too. as for marriage, it's another bourgeois institution we can live without. all this might sound impossibly radical but that's what gay liberation once stood for, before the lawyers and middle class commandeered it.
doesen't he somtimes use the word girlyman? no doesent surprise me. although he did play the part of a pregnant man in, i think the movie was called junior, so you'd think he'd be okay with the whole thing, but i guess that's where the whole acting thing comes in. what a doosh bag!
it's kinda weird he said he'd leave it to the courts, although he was personally against it.. now the courts have decided it's ok but now he's bringing in his powers to veto it, just a tad backward..
According to Time magazine, Arnold's approval rating is down to 36%. The magazine quotes a Republican strategist who says that he is "more dependent on his Republican base than ever." The article is on page 22 of the September 19 issue. In other words, Arnold knows that much of California is against him, so now he is trying desperately to hang on to those hard-right conservatives who still approve of him. Gay marriage? My bf and I have no problem with other same-sex couples doing it, but it's not right for us right now. The approval of the church? It's irrelevant. We're both neo-pagans. The military? I'm a peace activist. Let the army handle things like disaster relief along the Gulf Coast rather than get bogged down in Iraq. Military service has helped provide jobs and education for lots of working-class young people, so it ought to be an option for people of all sexualities.
God. I can't wait to find a decent boyfriend. I don't care if we ever get married. I could care less. I just want someone. *end vent*
