huh? The stoner kids are the assholes in The Wall T-shirts asking you which of Pink Floyd's two albums you have. "Mannnnn I really like their debut, Darkside, I get LIT to that shit. The Wall is their other album, it's awesome.. did you know they made a movie out of that shit? It's trippy, maaaannnnnn."

if there was a king of "not coming up with a decent melody" that would by syd barrett, just listen to his solo stuff..... yeah he comes up with a couple decent melodies, but the rest of it is burnt out stoner drivvle

dont get me wrong here. I like his stuff.. vegetable man, scream thy last scream, lucy leave, see emily play, etc etc... its just that I cant stand this complete worshipping of him, which is displayed especially in these forums.

 

you obviously havent heard alot of other music from the 60s... ever hear of kevin ayers, daevid allen?? like I said dont get me wrong, I enjoy his music... I have every album he put out as a solo artist, and of course every floyd album he was featured in..... I just cant stand this overworshipping.... and just because I have an opinion on something, doesnt necessarily mean I have a mental imbalance...... oh wait a sec, syd barrett had a mental imbalance too, so I guess Im cool.

Just to let you know, I don't fall into that category. The only Pink Floyd album I don't have is A Saucerfull of Secrets. The only Syd Barrett album I don't have is Opel. I don't appreciate the stereotypes.

 

"The Division Bell" album is quite good for the 90's Pink Floyd sound.

Uh, my point was most of those people get their information about music solely from music and TV and a large portion of them probably are oblivious to the fact Pink Floyd existed before 1973 and "Money" became a huge hit single.

Favorites on the Other hand would be Wish you Were here and Piper at the Gates of Dawn

 

because I would like to see someone with a clear head and a free mind without all those drugs clouding it all the time to actually like the music for what it is...... not because you are stoned and it is "trippy". music seems to lose its staying power for me when I see all these stoners like the same stuff I do.
