I can't get anything positive back on the names my sister has picked out for her daughter on the babycenter boards. All of those people hate nature names or anything to "hippyish" as they constantly say. So anyway, Which one do you like best?
    Rain or Willow ?

Indeed Willow is more common, though both are so unusual in the grand scheme of things it doesn't make much diffrence.

Argh can't choose between them, both are so beautiful.
I'd wait until she was born and see which suits best.

I like Rain as a middle name but Rain Willow flows off the tongue easier than Willow Rain.

I like Willow better because I can picture a 40 year old, say, lawyer or professor named Willow. Rain, not so much.
Rain may be cute while she's a baby, but remember, she will grow up!
I love nature names too, but if I used one I'd pair it with a more *traditional* middle name. There is someone from a baby-name board I frequent who named her daughter
River Elizabeth which I love! Let us know what your sister decides!

i'd say rain.. its just such a beautiful name. personally, willow reminds of what someone's grandma would be named...

but hey, whatever you choose, im sure will fit the baby wonderfully.

She will probably put something like Olivia or Elizabeth with Rain. Elizabeth is her middle name and Olivia is my mother's name. She wants the middle name for Willow to be Scarlett (after me!) But she still isn't sure. She is 7 months along so I guess she'll make up her mind when she's born!

I like Willow Rain better. Dakota was going to be Dakota Rayne when he was a girl from China. But when he ended up being a boy from Guatemala he became Dakota Garcia. Gee I wonder where that name came from?

Elizabeth is a very common name, in fact it's my oldest daughter's name (Elizabeth Dawn) we call her Liz. Anyways, I think it would be cool to use the grandmother's name and name the baby Olivia Rain.

Rain is going to be the first name if she uses Rain instead of Willow. She doesn't want to call her by her middle name!

Ahah.. My cousin named her daughters Willow Raine and Lily Moon. :D

Personally, I like Rain, as Willow is a lot more common and, well I just like Rain better. :)

By the way, disregard those people on the boards... Those are both beautiful names. :)

People on those boards can be a bit harsh sometimes, but Willow and Rain are beautiful on their own and especially compared to what some people name their children. By posting on those boards you invite the possibility of someone not liking a name, and they have the right to post their opinion, mean-spirited as it may be. But parents have to remember that their child will be the one who has to go through life with the name they (the parents) choose, so I think it's a good idea to consider names carefully before choosing, not just because it "sounds pretty." That said, Willow Rain or Willow Scarlett, while not everyne's style, are a million times better than meaningless, idiotic names like McMaddisynnleigh Nevaeh and Ja'Kasia Mylove and God knows what other ridiculous things people are naming their kids these days!
