I personally love them. What are some of your favorite albums/ tracks? My favorite album would be The Velvet Underground and Nico Favorite tracks: I'm waiting for the man Here She comes now Ocean Pale Blue Eyes Sunday Morning Venusin Furs White Light Heroin (forgive me if some of those are Lou Reed solo tracks...I myself am not sure)
My favorite tracks, to name a few... 'I'm Set Free' 'Sister Ray' 'Sunday Morning' 'All Tomorrow's Parties' 'I'll Be Your Mirror' 'Lady Godiva's Operation' 'Venus in Furs' 'Pale Blue Eyes' 'Here She Comes Now' Those are just a few, there are many more. I pretty much like all their work, except some of their later stuff. They're one of my all-time favorite bands and have had a huge influence on my own music as well.
Now that is definitely not a Velvet Underground song. 'Crimson and Clover' is by Tommy James and the Shondells, which are a rather cheesy psychedelic-pop band from the late 60's.
Yes, I though so too, didn't sound like them, but The Velvet Underground then covered it... I could bloody swear that I've seen it on a CD of theirs... I forgot to mention "Sunday Morning", lovely song... just reading that line "Watchout, the world's behind you", in your thread in random THoughts brought a smile to my face.
I likre loaded myself, even though that is thier odd way of seeling out. thier debut is literally a modern masterpiece. sorry but i am a littl drunk.
man i love those guys. the are fantastic. lou reed in general is great. i love white light white heat. as my favorite album by them. my favorite song is probably sister ray. or venus in furs.
this is pretty much a copy of the tracks i like from the can and velvet underground post in Nick's Planet Gong forum. and in no particular order 1. Venus in furs 2. the gift 3. heroin 4. murder mystery 5. white light/ white heat 6. all tomorrows parties I had said in another post that I downloaded a song called "crimson and clover" that was lableled Velvet Underground. :$
Anything you DL from a P2P service is gona be mislabeled. I saw another birck in the wall labeled as "we don't need no education".
I love the Velvet Underground, even though I only own two of their albums. Some of my favourite songs would have to be: *All Tomorrow's Parties *Venus in Furs *I'll be your mirror *Sweet Jane *Candy Says *Sunday Morning *I'm waiting for my man *Pale Blue Eyes *Who loves the Sun *Chelsea Girls Alright, enough.
my favorite album is their 3rd album.."The Velvet Underground"...it's very pretty and even though it's not really the classic 'velvet' sound I love it very much.
i love the vu, they're my favourite band, together with the beatles. my favourite album is white light/white heat my favourite songs: - heroin - run run run - i'll be your mirror - lady godiva's operation - sister ray - what goes on - the murder mystery - rock 'n roll - new age - one of these days - hey mr.rain
They're one of my absolute favorite bands. My favorite album is still the debut, but I like pretty much everything they ever did. My dad was pretty lucky; he was into them in the 60's, when almost no one else was. There was a girl who he was friends with, and she was very plain looking and didn't have many boyfriends, but she had Velvets albums and The Crazy World Of Aruther Brown and other stuff like that.
The Velvet Underground is GREAT! One of my favorite bands. Lou Reed's songwriting and guitar playing are truly great and John Cale... ooh, man! Listen to him go on "Venus in Furs" and, of course, "Sister Ray." Ok, these are my VU albums: The Velvet Underground & Nico White Light / White Heat The Velvet Underground Loaded 1969: The Velvet Underground Live, vol. 1 1969: The Velvet Underground Live, vol. 2 The Velvet Underground Bootleg Series My favorite album would have to be White Light / White Heat. If you listen to the whole album all the way through, you feel really... satisfied at the end. My favorite song is definitely "Sister Ray!" Who could forget those lyrics "Oh but I haven't got the time time, too busy sucking on a ding dong." Heh, not to even mention the amazing instrumentals. The Velvet Underground Bootleg Series has a 38 minute version of "Sister Ray" on it! Some of my other VU favorites: "Venus In Furs" "Run Run Run" "Heroin" "Lady Godiva's Operation" "I Heard Her Call My Name" "Candy Says" "Rock & Roll" "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" The Velvet Underground is really interesting... shows people the other side of the "flower power" hippy movement in California. The VU shows you what it was like in the deep, dark, hard part of New York City. Hey, I love The Crazy World of Arthur Brown! It's an amazing album. Arthur Brown is an astounding vocalist, I must say. I also have his second album, Galactic Zoo Dossier, which is even more insane than the first. If you like The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, then definitely check out Galactic Zoo Dossier.
I heard that 'the crazy world of arthur brown' is the only album worth listening to, and that his other albums are very weak in comparison with his first one. But i'll check Galactic Zoo Dossier out, and see for myself
The Velvet Underground are a good reason to be proud on the 4th of July. thats my America Seriously, one of my favorites ever. Favorite tracks: Stephanie Says Candy Says Lisa Says Shes My Best Friend Who Loves the Sun Oh Sweet Nothing Sunday Morning Actually there are very few i don't like, I even enjoy the Nico Chelsea Girls and songs like I'm Sticking With you Good stuff and I'm glad so many people here agree, cheers
Well, I personally think that Crazy World is better than Zoo, but Zoo is SO insane... it has parts in it where is sounds like the CD is skipping and crap like that. They really fucked with the recording to make a weird, weird album. One song on Zoo, called "Creation," is the creepiest song I've ever heard. It sounds like Satan is speaking to you... man, it's weird stuff. You see, the second album actually has a different band than the first, so it sounds a bit different. They actually use guitars on the second album. Oh, and Skelter, I like the photo of Syd in your sig, as well as the excerpt from "Jugband Blues." I like that part in the song... it almost seems like Syd's goodbye to Floyd or something. I was looking for a good photo of Syd to put in my signature, but I couldn't find any good enough. Here's a quiz for you. Without hunting around for the answer, what song of Syd's is the excerpt in my sig from? This shouldn't be too hard...
I've always loved them... ever since I was very young. Yeah they're very popular in France (where I'm from). My favorite album is the debut, with Nico. Femme Fatale my very favorite song... but here is a top 5 (well I cheated a bit ) I made on the Planet Gong forum: The Velvet Underground: (one from each album plus one bonus) * Femme Fatale (or Sunday Morning or Venus In Furs or There She Goes Again or I'll Be Your Mirror) * White Light/White Heat (or Here She Comes Now or Sister Ray) * Candy Says (or Pale Blue Eyes or Jesus or I'm Set Free or The Murder Mystery) * Sweet Jane (or Who Loves The Sun or New Age) * Bonus: Lisa Says (on tons of others... but I've cheated enough, right? lol)
