I saw the thread "Body Art Pictures" and it reminded me that lately I have been very interested in body art. My question is, has anyone actually done it before? What kind of paint do you need to use and where do you get it? Do you have any tips for someone who wants to get started in body art?
Body art is much bigger than just bodypainting... it can be anything really. I know of this artist (I don't know her name though) who sat on the ground within a ring of flammable material, and lit it; she'd then wait until the flames frew nearer and nearer. I think it was also her who tied her hair to that of her boyfriend's. The usual way to materialise this sort of art is photography. Don't know much about body painting though...
to paint on the body you can use acrylic if you look i think on the second page of my gallery i have a few pictures of me where i modeled painted up in acrylic paints

Yea acrylic is what i've used in the past http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/500/DSC_0180.jpg Unfortunatly it does crack and come off quickly so its good for photo imaging but not for if you are painting bodys for shows. Body painting i've done for shows i've used stage make up. Its a non oil based face paint (so it means its better quality) it can be quite expencive but definatly worth it. i've forgotten who make it but you will find it in theatre supply shops, fancy dress shops etc etc. heres how that can come out (just stuff i've done for shows): http://fleassy.theice.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/DSC_0118.jpg http://fleassy.theice.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/DSC_0004.jpg then on top of all this you have uv paint which ROCKS and i use a lot just for body decoration at raves as well as in shows.
well it doesn't peel off quite as quick if you cover it with some petroleum jelly oh & those pics are really nice... ok now im ganna get some of mine and post them btw Fleassy i think you are an incredible artist
haha he fell asleep so i went to town.... there is another pic of a face painting i did to my hubby but darn it i don't have it on my puter...anyway one day he was acting like a dick head so i painted one on his face anyway acrylics are kewl
acrylics are good for only a little while they tend to crack very quickly............... For a more lasting painting, ive used latex body paint..... you can find it in most art and crafts stores..... or any other latex paint will work just as well........ it takes longer to dry but it's well worth it
