An article adapted from a Bill Moyer address. I found this address regarding fundamentalism (specifically in America, but applicable here as of late) to be incredibly engaging - so I thought I'd share it with my fell-oh kee-wees who might be feeling a little dizzy from the boom in fund-a-mental-list poll-it-ticks and from my right-ting in this man-her. Groovy! (beer can?)
sorry walrus, i tried reading the article but it was just too damn long and i choose not to devote my energy to religious dogma. i'm of the opinion that religion is outdated, and causes more harm than good. i do agree that fundamentalism is a scary thing, and let's hope it is a passing fad in our good land. i did find the following article that should be of interest to new zealanders and americans: http://www.listener.co.nz/issue/203/features/6019/upping_the_anti.html the listener (for those outside nz) is a relatively left-wing weekly magazine that often features insightful articles. i think this article nicely sums up what many kiwis feel. there is an ugly side to anti-americanism, and it's embarrassing for those of us who direct our dislike at the u.s. government, not its people. the americans i have met are fine people, although i do have a problem understanding their preoccupation with the most trivial pop-culture. there is so much more to life that they seem to ignore. anyway, enjoy the article and post your comments!
