^Yeah me too, but the thing for me is all Saxaphone's would more than break my budget... they're pretty expensive instruments aren't they?
i play clarinet. (whooo, go reeds!!!) i am atempting to learn flute, but that hasnt been getting to far. and i use to play piano, i would like to get a real piano (before i just had a piece of crap keyboard) so i can play again.
I play bass. Ive been thinking about playing a horn. Theyre cool. I also want to play drums and sitar...if I ever have the money.
Sheet music is like the recipe book sometimes. It doesn't tell you everything but is enough to get a larger group playing as one. You can get by without it in smaller groups where each person is playing on his own, such as a rock band or jazz combo. In larger units such as concert orchestras and big bands, it gets difficult to keep everything together without a score. For example, all of the harmony within sections really needs a score. It would be difficult for six saxes in a section to know which notes to play in harmony without a score. If you're in a jazz combo you might use a simple score that just tells you the key you're playing in and the chord changes. The improv is up to each player. .
Drums are probably the most difficult to convey on a score. If you look at many stock scores for something like a swing band, there's almost nothing written on them. It's possible to write detailed scores for drums but it seems most arrangers don't know how or just leave it up to the drummer to decide how to play. .
i attempted to teach myself guitar but man it's hard! So yeah sax machine 'm most probably technically not a guitarist. argh every guy i know plays one. tis carazeeeeee! without sheet music how could music be recorded before electricity etc...when the great composers died? so other people could play their stuff. it isn't without its uses, thats all im saying.
Wow,... I feel so out of place here I do play guitar Drums Mandolin Bass and other various odd. I will stay mute on Guitar though. I'm actually looking for musicans to help me here In San Diego,.....but seeing how this is apparently the ass end of the U.S.A.,... everybody here listens to hip hop. Ask a Brother down here about the blues? And they just laugh in your face.
Nothing wrong with Hip-hop, as long as it's ACTUALLY hip-hop and not just some commerical scheidt with rapping in it that everyone assumes is hip-hop just because there's rap in it.
A story: There was a woman walking down the street. She heard a voice saying, "hey, over here." She looked around and saw a frog down by her feet. She thought nothing of it and was about to walk away when the frog said, "hey, don't walk away just yet." The woman stood motionless, clearly stunned by what she was witnessing. Then, the frog said to her, "give me a kiss and you'll be in for a real surprise." "Why?", the woman asked. "Because, if you kiss me I'll turn into a world-famous bagpiper." After putting a few moments of though into it, the woman scooped the frog up and dropped him into her bag. "Are you kidding," she said, "a talking frog is worth way more than a world-famous bagpiper." And yes, I am a bagpiper.
