My new kitten has something wrong with her eye. She kinda squints it, and she get's that gooey stuff in the corner of her eye. Is she ok, or do I need to take her to the vet? She keeps her hurt eye a little more closed than she does the other. I do have another cat that might have scrathced it, but I'm not sure. Any info would be a great help.
she could have an eye infection. my cat has had that before and it is very uncomfortable. that is what it sounds like because if it was just a scratch then the tearing and squinting would go away probably that same day. what you have described sounds exactly like the eye infection my kitty had. take her to the vet and the vet will most likely give you some eye ointment to treat it with. its also contagious (if i remember correctly) so you may want to seperate the cats. also if not treated soon it could spread to both of her eyes.
It's really common for kitten's to get that...it could be an infection that requires meds, but some kitten eye problems just need to run their course, without meds. Use a warm compress to clear away the goo. Another trick I use,is to rub some cream or milk around the kitten's eyes...then the other cats will lick them clean
Well, I let it go for a few days and she seems to be doing better. All I did was clean the goo off. It has been at least 2 days and I have not had to clean her off. Thanks so much for the help.
