you shouldnt have to bust your ass to make a life for yourself though, thats the point. your chasing the dream that sociaty has made for ya, money.
thiefs are chasing the money dream too if they still desire the objects that money buy they are just as bad and lazy at the same time.
not really, im talkin about nickin a trolly full of food. not a plasma screen tv from someones house.
personally i dont do it, i got tons of cash but if needs must id happily screw over safeways or tescos. as for workin hard, then yeah working hard for self sufficany seems a good reason to work hard. but graftin ya tits off for 45 hrs a week for a shit wage in a job u hate just so u can pay the rent and eat is bullshit. thats the worse kind of theft, its your life gettin stolen.
Sorrry but isnt wall mart itself theft? The owners that sit aorund doing fuck all and sitting on all this money?
shoplifting is freaken stupid. Don't do it , if you wanna go to jail be my guest but really this is bad so Don't break the law or eventaully you'll pay.
Sparing the whole "If you just work hard, you can have everything you want" bs (only taken into consideration if everyone has the same opportunities, same benefits, same everything will that work). Unless you've been in a situation where it's starve or fight, it's hard to listen. Not everyone can just go to different stores on the whim. It's not that easy to just say "You don't have to steal. People will help you" Speaking from a long hungry past, help wasn't there. I'm not going to follow one stance or another on this because I based on situations. Is stealing (at least in this thread) only pertain to goods? When I say stealing, I also include time, some else's life energy, things of that nature. Sweat shop products is another that i consider stealing. Where are people suppose to shop at when corporations take over their towns? Here, I live ten minutes away from one Walmart supercenter and 20 minutes away from another one being built, plus fighting to keep another one directly out of this town. If they build the walmart in this town, there goes the few remaining places to shop for food because they won't be able to compete.
Sorry, yes Wal Mart just appeared out of thin air and dropped in their laps. Talking about economics with a communist is such a waste of time.
indeed, its easy for people to say shoplifting is bad when they have $ in their pockets. if you really think about it giving money to corporations(such as wal mart) is a lot worse then stealing from them. when you give then money they use it to go set up another store someplace else and destroy more community businesses.
Do you really think shoplifting is going to stop that? Again, prices will just be adjusted, accordingly. The honest consumers will have to pay for the crooks actions. EVERYTHING is paid for, one way or another. When you cut into the profit margins of a company such as Wal-Mart, you are really encouraging bad business practices [ie inflated prices, manufacturer controls, etc] necessary for the business to survive. Retail cannot afford to pay manufacturers, farmers, et cetera a fair price if they, themselves cannot earn a fair profit. Your seemingly insignificant choices in reality affect many more people that you realize.
are you saying wal-mart doesn't make a fair profit? they make more money then most countries in the world. wal-mart will cut their costs whenever and wherever they can. by stealing from them, maybe they have to raise their prices a bit and enable local business to be more competitive with them.
Who is destroying community buisnesses? Walmart or the customers who don't buy at the Com. Biz. Shoplifting is not the alternative to buying from Walmart. Buying from community buisnesses is the (proper) alternative.
If you people want to steal, then do it, but dont paint the picture of the hungry revolutionary changing the world by not paying for things. Want to change things? Support local merchants, or become more active in stopping the spread of urban sprawl. I personally hate Walmart, strip malls, TGIO'CHILI-Bee's restaurants and all that, but i dont use that to justify theft. But dont make the small stores seem so perfect either, because in my small town, when one of the two old town grocery stores was destroyed by a tornado, the other marked its prices up and charged twice what it used to, because the only alternative was driving 30 miles. Walmart came here and brought jobs, and competitive prices for the consumer. Just because they make a lot of money, doesnt make them evil. I dont like our economy, or our goverment for that matter, but the fact is that we live in a capitalistic society, and me being a socialist doesnt change the fact my bread is cheaper at Walmart. Me and my family have had hard times, winters without heat, no food, no air in the summer, just a lot of hard shit, but i didnt go steal. I got a crappy job, like when i ran a machine at a factory, watching people loose fingers. BUT i didnt go steal, i got it all honest. Now that i make good money, i am probably a sellout though huh. This is the same as the ghetto mentality, that if you get out then you sold out, that you should all stay there and rob and steal and gangbang, not go to college and get a good job in the city. Get a job, and get honest, then go change the world the right way man.
