New/Old Forum for Trilogy Group

A few of you used to post on the Trilogy Group forum. I haven't heard from the webmaster Ben in several months. I have kept in contact with him for the last 3 years so his disappearance is kind of strange. It doesn't look like he is coming back anytime soon though. I've decided to go ahead and start using an old forum of mind once again. It's 2 years old so a lot of the posts on there are from 2 years ago. If you have any problems registering please respond to this thread and let me know. I'll try to start making a few good posts to help people out myself. Here's a few things that I have planned.

Create a good freeware list and make it a sticky. I've been working on this for a while and it's a very good list. I've included a variety of different programs in a number of different categories.

Create more warez categories. I'm all for free speech. I'm definately into warez (getting programs, games, music, or movies for free which would normally cost money). So I'm definately going to update the forum and create warez subforums for programs, games, music, movies, help, and possibly a few more.

I'll try to do these two things tomorrow as well as invite as many people as I can. This forum is a temporary thing. I'm also working on creating a new site. Perhaps when I have a host I will get some good forum software such as phpbb or Invision Power Board. Like I said this forum is a temporary solution, but it's not too bad so I hope you all will bear with me and give it a chance. It will be a work in progress and I'll try to get as much done as quick as I possibly can. You will notice ads. If you have firefox you can easily block these ads. I will make a post about it in the forum addressing the issue.

I'm open to any new ideas, so if you notice anything that could be improve please just make a post about it in the appropriate forum and I'll respond to it. I could also use a few moderators if anyone is interested. Those of you who know me know that I am a pretty dedicated, fair, and tolerant administrator. I try to read every single post and get involved as much as I can. We can have a lot of fun and learn a little at the same time. I hope to see you all there, and get to know some of you better. If you have problems registering or you didn't recieve your confirmation mail after registering then send me a PM. I will manually create a password for you, which you can change later, and PM it to you.

 

I've already deleted most of the categories that I wanted to get rid of. I also added a few of the categories and subforums that I had planned on such as the warez category. Right now they are empty, but I'll post some things for everyone to enjoy tomorrow. I'll have to post rules for the warez category to make sure it stays clean and technically legal. I'll be adding a few more as well such was one for games and whatever else I think of. I'll update this thread as I improve things. If you are interested in becoming an affiliate (friend) and have your own section to post updates and news for your site on my forum let me know.

 

I added the official forum freeware list. It can be found here. http://nitegaunt.freesuperhost.com/freeware.html I'll move this page to an ad-free host that supports CGI languages as soon as I find one. Whenever I have some more spare time on my hands I'll be updating the list (I made this a few months ago), as well as add descriptions for each program. Comments and suggestions are welcome

 

I added the warez categories and made a basic rules page. I'll have to work on that more later though. I'm going to try my best to add some very nice downloads to the warez section to get us started. I already added Adobe Photoshop CS2, a few albums, and a couple of movies. I'm going to try to add Star Wars Episode III and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as well as plenty of other stuff before the weekend is over.

He fixed MY access. I still havent recieved a Validation mail. But! There doesn't seem to be a problem with that data base.

Fixing everyone's access isn't a problem. It only takes me a matter of seconds, so please don't hesitate to register because of that. The problem should be resolved soon anyways. I've been working on the forum. I messed around with the design a little bit. I've added more categories and deleted the outdated ones. I've also been posting files in the warez categories. I'll feel even more motivated to add more stuff once I see that we are getting a few more members. I wouldn't want to post all that stuff if noone is going to download it. You'll probably also see a popup if you're using internet explorer without a popup blocker. I disabled the ads (let me know if anyone sees an ad) but left the popup because it requires more credits to disable and I figured most people would have a way to block popups by now.

 

well, if you get $$ from the ads being up...most of us use firefox and adblock anyway...so i'd say go for it

 

I just wanted to thank everyone that has already registered, and to those who accepted invitations from me. I accidently disabled signups a few days ago, so if any of you tried to register and couldn't that is why. Other than that I think the forum is off to a good start. I've already made a lot of changes to make it a better place, and I'll be working on it more this weekend. I would especially like to thank Trotsky. You're doing a great job, and I appreciate it. I hope to see more of you there soon.

I've already decided on the software, and I really do apologize for switching. I was getting the feeling that if I didn't settle on one soon it was going to drive people off. I'm very happy with vbulletin though. As for ads... I have no plans of using ads in any way shape or form. I want to keep everything clean and enjoyable.

 

I'm just givin ya crap...

I'm the same way with ads. But, I have a couple community service ones tho.
Like the Amber Alert system, and a banner for organ donation.
