Do you think that having people ride the bus would make somethings better or worse?...personally I think it would make a difference because it would allow people to walk to the bus stop and have exercise instead of polluting the air by being lazy and taking a car somewhere you can get to by just a 15 minute walk.
I've always thought it would be a good idea to mark off circumfrences around major metropolitan downtown areas and ban private transport within. Take your car to a certain point then you hop on a mono, bus whatever. If you live inside it, you store your car in a garage at the edge and walk or ride pt to get to it. A bit extreme, yeah, and would never pass the test of public opinion (lol, yeah right) but hey it's just a thought.
except that it kinda fucks with the perfectly decent mom with two small children trying to carry things AND track her kids. and those walks are a LOT longer for the tiny ones. i know, i've tried it.
I think that if you can get public transport you should, yes it does need more funding and a better service, but I do believe little things such as not driving when you can is doing your small part in changing the environment, and I know the arguament of "what is the point if the government isn't doing anthing!" but I believe the governments will take notice if we all come together and make it clear that we do care about the environment, but hey just my opinion.. peace and love michael xxx
yeah, i the past two towns i've lived in, public transport just wasn't really even an option. mind you, they're not the size of LA, but there's a lotta people who can't get to where tehy need to go without transpsortation of some sort. and if you're walking, people throw shit at you, it's unreal!
If you ride a bike along the side of the rode, they throw crap at you too. Bummer. It's as if they think you are inferior for not driving a car. .
