I've always been a hippy. I'm into Communism, i tottalllly dig the music, and I smoke pot when i can. But i just don't know what to wear and where i can get the clothes cheap! OR What i should act like towards people... i'm usually acting like a trippy guy, anyway. I wear band tee shirts and blue jeans usually. And i don't know what to do with my hair, also! I know i sound like i'm a poser, i'm not. I just realllly want to express myself truely and let everybody know who i REALLY am. Please post on what i should do! Thanks! ps/ you could call this "hippy makeover"! HA
Be who you are. You arent your clothes. Forget what people think of you. It doesnt matter. Good luck.
chuck...you seemed to have toned down your posts in these types of threads....i rememebr some older ones *sigh* but yeah, how you look, and how you act isnt going to reflect what kind of person you are...it has to be what you DO... yes, i know "acting" and "doing" are very similar, but here is the difference, acting is fake, doing is real, and from the heart
You don't need to do anything in particular to be a "hippie", but you are a sweetheart for making that effort to spread the message by showing others what you stand for, if only by external appearances.
i agree with everyone here. being a hippy comes from the heart. I mean, yea if you wear the patchy homemade clothing, band shirts from the 60s 70s and have long or unkept hair and yatta yatta people are going to call you a hippy. I mean they call me a hippy all the time. But i am who i am and i dont change myself for anybody. just spread the love! haha peace
if its clothes ur after look in charity shops and search for stuff like 'vintage' in google or somethin..its harder for men to get into the scene as theres a hell of alot more womens stuff. try out this site i use sometimes....www.sazzvintage.com
if you really want to look like a hippie stop brushing your hair, wear a hand made skirt and a hand tye-dyed shirt. or buy wayfarings clothes.
im not even quite sure what a hippie would be classed as but i can sure as hell tell ya that you don't have to be a hippie to be hip just practice peace and love the people you see before you and im pretty sure you'll end up where you wanna be. by the way im a youth myself so i'm still exploring different frontiers but i find that i feel alot more hip and comfortable with myself if i look at things in a positive manner and spread around that positive energy for others to take in.
HEY THANKS ALOT EVERYBODY i've sure learned that i don't really need to express my ways in any other way then how i feel about myself. But i'm still gonna try some vintage shops and look for some good accessories and clothes... But thanks alot everybody!
its sometimes hard to know what the hippietally correct thing to do is but practice un-safe sex and you'll be cool
hey, if you like the hippie clothes /if there is something like this/ try to find some old clothes from your parents, or make yourself something.Just close your eyes and imagine how you want to look like. But the most important is to be hippie in your soul ,so that's not important.Just be disheveled:> And set free your hair:>It's on my signature:>
Worring about superficial things like that takes away from your creative energy of being a person! Cloths don't make the man!!! The man makes the cloths or for some hippys the man makes his own cloths! Thats a good way to save some money if you know how....
One addige i thought was pretty far out when i started opening myself, to the universe, in a new way, was "enjoy life, expand your mind, and drink soy milk". I was like "yeaaaaaaahhhh that rules" I was kind of a skater, was just happy, and i saw "the beatles revolution" on abc, and started growing out my hair, just lettin it flow, lettin it go, and reading dzogchen buddhist meditation books and stuff. Then i started getting into other spiritual avenues, like Taoist inner alchemy, J.Krishnamurti's teachings, Timothy fucking Leary, carlos castaneda, the crimson circle. You know thats where the depth and the truth lies, you know, infinite freedom. Thats how I act
hippies arent necessarily lefties. Many are dead centre. But. Im commie, so wayhe, let us all be happy!
perhaps the question is what do you want your hair to say to observers. Long? dreads? buzzed? (which to me looks like a dready just pitched the dreads. looks unfinished to me) I see guys with that Alexander the Great cut Jim Morrison wore. Are you male or female? (didn't check before hitting reply) what do you want to say about yourself with your appearance? see my gallery and get a load of my hair. I think (hope) it says "free and not a slave to corporate-generated fashion." What do you want your look to say?
