Christ, you're insatiable. You want to listen to: The Dresden Dolls self titled album. Standout tracks : "Girl Anachronism" & "Coin-Operated Boy" You also want to listen to: Nick Drake albums. Especially "Pink Moon" You really want to listen to: Frank Black ( & The Catholics) Albums: "The Cult of Ray" & "Black Letter Days" You definately want to listen to: Cave-In: "Antenna" (Incredibly overlooked album)
right in my opinion if you wanna change your life listen to jeff buckley, curtis mayfeild, led zeppelin, radiohead, nick drake, blind melon, john coltrane, and the smiths
The Dresden Dolls! I like those tracks too, still need to give the rest of the album a chance. Cave-In too are awesome, although I do believe their prog masterpiece 'Jupiter' to be better than Antenna. Bit dissappointed when I saw them live a few years back, they didn't seem to have it all together. Old Frank's solo project I've yet to get round to listen to, thanks for the reminder!
Fatherland by Ancient Rites (the whole album). Because it makes you want to stand at the top of a cliff in late summer, holding a sword, overlooking a majestic sunset as your hair and cloak billow in the wind, the shadows grow ever longer and all around you the last rays of the sun turn the world into gold. ...or at least that's what I feel. (tried Marduk yet? I guarantee it's most satisfactory!)
I would suggest Ben Harper, Marvin Gaye, Sky Cries Mary, Toots and the Maytals, Ernest Ranglin, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Muddy Waters, and Danny Barnes to start with. Oh, and They Might be Giants.
ahh franz ferdinand's new albm october 3rd! "you could have it so much better..with franz ferdinand" *hops from foot to foot* cant wait cant wait cant wait..oh and if you like dresden dolls, you'd prob'ly like the fiery furnaces..they somehow remind me of em..
Have you heard the new Franz Ferdinand song though?! It's dire! Lucky you're so lucky. Dear oh dear. If that's an indication of the whole thing then.....shit man. Even I liked a few of the tracks off their last album...but not that pap.
PS. Jupiter is absolutely awesome! I wish on every single star that Cave-In hadn't broke up. They were so unique, and made me feel things I never knew I could in places that I never knew I had.
the lyrics of that song are supposed to be bits of conversation overheard at a party..so they're definately not the deepest lyrics ever written ^.- i didn't think it was that bad, though.. i've heard about half the new songs from demo/live versions off the internet..i think their new cd'll be just as good if not better than the last actually.theyre kinda are expanding their sound, yknow? some acoustic guitar etc.. still some good catchy stuff, though.
