so like, which instrument(s) do you think is the most important to have in a song? i think that the most important ones comprise the rhythm section... cause without a good rhythm section, youre fucked.
Depends of the type of the music, but for me the drums and the guitar are the most important. BUT u can't have only one important instrument in the songs cause every instrument is giveing special efects for the quality of the type of the music.
Voice is the origin and basis of all music. Music began with a few cavemen singing songs. I think it's save to say we'd not have any instruments if it wasn't for the voice.
I used to always think it was the guitar, but a friend just had me listening to Something Corporate, no guitars in there and they sounded pretty good... its definitely gotsa be the rhythm section, especially the drums, and most dream pop/underground pop/neo-psychedelia that's been made since The Wondermints became "huge" wouldn't be what it is if it weren't for the bass guitars keeping the rhythm as beautifully as they have and continue to do.
as being in a band myself i can tell you that if the music isn't that good the vocals can always tie any song together.
its between drums and vocals. drums are used widely in a variety of genres. there are instrumental albums, but there are some songs without drums too. its a catch 22 between these two for me.
