Ok, so i got my dreads done a WEEK ago and I used alittle wax, enough to hold them together. After a week i never played with them or tighten them at all, I just let them be, however, several of them started to fall apart, so this girl re-did them. they just look like shit, like my hair is a bit curly and wax just makes it even more, will they ever look ok, I simply wear a tam to sleep and all day except for school, i just tie it in a pony tail. How much should i play with them , I just palm roll them once in a while. But i have no time to sit down and do all of them. any tips, or things i can do to improve my dreads??

if they're only a week old, i wouldn't worry about it too much..when i had my first set of dreadies i ended up backcombing some more after about 2 weeks too..but yeah it's pretty normal for em to be falling apart like that for a little bit, before they can get theyre hold (1-2 month?), then they start coming together. you could just palmroll a bit here and there in class, when you're reading, watching tv, whatever..no need to stress about it or anything though :D good luck and happy dreading!

at a week old they're not going to be very tight and it's normal for some of them to fall apart and then re-dread. I suggest letting them be a little more free when you can. The more your hair moves, the more it'll knot. Play with them when you can. I palmroll mine while watching TV or reading stuff on the computer. Or, if I don't want to do that then I just rub them in a twisting motion with my fingers (one handed or two handed...depending on my mood). It'll take a few months before you don't have to do anything except the occasional palmrolling.

    *hugs* and have patience.
