What if Leary never actually took LSD?

I'm really thinking about finding some Acid especially after reading Leary's book "Turn on Tune in Drop out" but I was just thinking what if he is simply promoting LSD to screw up our minds and not to enhance them like he says he's trying to. Any acid people around, this is to you, what are you're thoughts, especially if you've read Leary? I hope Leary isn't fuck'n around, because I'm really excited about the higher levels of consiousness he talks about in his book. Cheers Mates,

he told everyone to tune in, turn on, and drop out, but he never told them what to do after that...the main theme of "Fear and Loathing"
