does anyone think theres a chance of the 60's comming back ((ie: everyone getting so bored of crappy modern music and running out of originality and going back to a hippy fashion with young bands doin old bands)) or maybe in a zillion years some guys will discover some old cd called 'the beatles' sing all the stuff and re-do history?

Why dwell in the past and slavishly try to recreate it? Get with the mindstream of the now, find music and ideas that move with it and elevate the consciousness. The great social, political and spiritual gains of the 1960s era (and onward) are by nature progressive, not retrogressive. What was put in motion then is still rollin' today, so get with it NOW and help give birth to tomorrow. Evolve.

tru but that doesnt mean similar movements wont occur in the future...i mean sure we shouldnt focus completely on the past, but the idealism of the 60s would be a ery good thing to come back.

nope the 60's is never coming back unless there is some new messiah and they start time over again. The spirit of the 60's will return though, (and even faster if we don't call it the "spirit of the sixties") let's call it the spirit of love or kindness or brotherhood or something along those lines... Heck it could even be called the spirit of the hippies. as long as it captures the ideals & doesn't refer to an actual time period that has passed away.

LOL, don't dwell on the past.

There are tons of great bands today. You're just too lazy to look.

Don't do anything cuz it's fashionable, do it cuz it feels right, do it cuz it fits........

Baby, don't stress on trends or what is mainstream, don't worry about tomorrow, live for today and enjoy yourself !!!!

Um YEEES! thats the reason i connected with the generation of the that time as i believed they were ''rebels with a PROPER cause'' and were united against nixon and his nixonites and the racism left over from the 50's and the evil of vietnam. Just not the same nowadays- all the ,majority youngsters do is look bad and dumb and like a drone army of criminals and go around beating up people and mugging them for fun and something to do!

Things have not changed as much as you think - there were plenty of young people in the 60's that were part of the problem. The ideas of fighting oppression and freeing people’s minds are as old as people and as new as today. The 60's and even some old broken down freaks are still going on. You have the right ideas - just look back for your inspiration and look forward for your tasks.

hehehe, yeah! I mean my rights aren't all that beautiful now, there's still work to be done, but my parents couldn't even go to a segregated elementary school. That still makes me sad..really now.

Honestly I find it funny that you say this because of all the information I have gathered ( TV,Radio,Books,Newspapers,Magazines and, talking with people) it seems to me that there is a collective consciousness about people right now that is quite positive. Although we are going through some difficult times right now with the (War,Economy,Hurricane Katrina, ect) people seem to be waking up and in some ways fighting back with spirituality and thinking more for them selves. I read in Christain Magazine about a month ago of a big movement taking place where christains are leaving the organized church in search of a more spiritaul path,People at my local collage are becoming much more involved with the oil drilling in the Artic and rather than become hateful or violent they are simply handing out filers all over the town hoping to educate people about it and as far as music goes regardless of the era if you listen to what the majority (not all) but most bands and musicians are talking about right now it is just that! (Wake up,Speak out, but do it in a intellugent way so you can prove the system wrong!) I think if you took a good hard look at the majority of people you would see that the 60's can't be brought back because it never really left...........

It's not about bringing back the mouvement of the past. It's about strengthening the one we have right now.

I dont think the 60s ever died out. I mean the lifestyle is still there. hippies will never die out either. Just because the year changed doesnt mean the spirit and style of the 60s did too.

Being one of the older guys that come in here I have been impressed with the answers that I have been hearing. The days of the 60's will not come back,,,but if we all keep the attitude that you all have the the spirit of the 60's will not end.Good hearts and by the way some of the music that has been going around is just awesome.Keep the mind of the child and you'll always be children, acting is for Hollywood, live like this is your last day, bless you all...Rick

Hippie fashion is back for women, with the "kaftan" being the latest thing. Just look at all the film clips and media personalities and see what they're wearing... Mariah Carey's wearing one on the video for her comeback single. And oh how nauseating today's kaftan is. Covered in sequins and spangles, it's unrecognisable as clothing that was popular in the 60s.

Whenever something comes back it's always modified to suit the current time so don't ever expect authentic 60s fashion (or music) to make it back into the mainstream again.

Umm...YES! "The Sixties" will indeed come back, and we will refer to them as that in approximatly...65 years, 2070. Can you believe it? I might still be alive then!
When you think about it, it makes sence. Gee, won't it be weird when the sixties is referring to 2060, not 1960? I'm all spooked out...
