how big of a pot for soil growing? Im planting just one plant. Im trying to use a small 100 watt mh and another hps. Are sockets that are sold seperatly able to switch between mh and hps? I'm trying to get a single socket and then attach a reflector. ill get a fan to cool it down and also a carbon filter. One more question... do you need to attach a fan to the carbon filter to get air to circulate out through the filter or could it come through naturally through a 4 " duct or even a small plastic tube?
Rule of thumb, 1 gallon of soil per 1 ft of plant. "All" HID's require a matching ballast, along with the mogul socket.
Depends on the strain of seed as well...for lowryder...you only need like...a 12 inch regular house plant pot
as stated earlier, 1 gallon of soil/ft. of intended plant height is good. BUT if your only growin one plant, you want the most you can get outta that sucker right? so you will probly wanna get it nice and big. But if you have size restirctions then you are obviously not gonna be able to grow a monster. For one plant, 100w is plenty. Thats why i think you should get atleast a 4 gal, probly 5 gallon pot and veg it to about 1.5-2 ft depending on strain. By the end, youll have a plant anywhere from 3-6 ft tall! lol That one plant could easily yield enough smoke for you alone to last a LONG time.
oh yeah sorry, i forgot to mention the ballast. All hid lights require or come with a ballast. I got a convertable one (MH to HPS) which i love. You can do a search on ebay and get em there. But you will need a convertable MH bulb (a little more expensive than regular bulbs) but its totally worth it. You only need one ballast instead of two. The ballasts are what cost the most money too, bulbs are the cheap part.
