Did you know that the guy that invented the battery “mr tesler” who was also famous for the tesler coil, that crazy electric thing you generally see in b-movies with the two rods with a bit of electricity rising in between them.

Anyway, when he invented his battery, electricity companies in America were so pleased that they offered to fund his crazed idea…He built a giant tesler coil in the middle of the desert which he used to shoot an electric bolt into space. Anyway, the result was that he wiped the electricity in California for 2 weeks, after that the government hated him and he fled to Russia where the last thing he reportedly built was a death ray. Which although never officially tested he apparently used and shot it at South Africa where around the same time there was mass electrical disturbances that killed a few people…

And…During the 16th century, a ship crashed on the east coast of England, killing everyone aboard apart from a monkey, which the inhabitancy of a certain town, tried and hung on suspicion that he was a French spy, going on the preconception that all French people were short, hairy and spoke funny!

    nuts

You mean Nikolai Tesla, right? He was awesome. I read that he invented a way of extracting electricity straight from the earth. You didn't mention the "Tunguska" explosion. In the russian forests he built....something.....which exploded with the force of a nuclear bomb. Possibly it WAS a nuclear bomb, or, as he claimed, a way to transmit free electricity without wires. Eventually he died penniless and reviled, his reputation systematically destroyed by greedy industrialists who were none to keen on everyone having free power.

Or so I read, a long time ago!!!

Oh, to my knowledge the thing with two prongs and electricity arking between them is actually called a "Jacob's Ladder". A Tesla coil pumps high frequency, high voltage electricity into the air or any nearby grounded objects.

Oops. Got that wrong. Here's a little anecdote. (Sorry for banging on, but I was fascinated by Tesla when I was a child)

we had to research him last year for a bit of fun. well we were doing magnets and stuff and electricity and all that, but we did some random research for the hell of it...

anyway, me and my mate were the only people to find out about this deathray!! hehe.

who was the guy who caused an earth quake in new york without knowing it....? dunno.. but that was funny
