Just curious if any of you writers out there have dared the task of creating a language (constructed language = conlang). I had wanted to created one of my own, and started the project in the summer, but it consumes so, so, so much time. You have to create words that fit with your decided phological constraints, remember the words you create, and (possibly) make a written language. Anyway, it is quite an endeavor, and I was wondering if anyone else has delved into the world conlanging.

    :) In love,

i could imagine it would be fun if you managed to create your own language that only you and some close friends/partners knew. messaging things would be easy.

but im shit at learning real languages, making one up would be pointless for me

Anthony Burgess was great at that. He wrote the dialogue for Quest For Fire (yes, there was actually dialogue in that movie) and of course there is A Clockwork Orange (the book).
I got around writing about a distant planet without inventing a new language by giving it a connection to this world via dreams. that explains why everyone in my story speaks english...
