everyone i seem to meet either went on tour for a year or so with jerry before he died, or started touring after his passing. i don't understand what happened to everyone. did the old heads conform after jerry died? was there nothing left? i just don't get it. i mean i don't expect old heads to be touring still, it's different than it used to be, but where are they hiding??? just a thought. this has probably been posted before and all apologizies if it has! i'm jonseing for sum jerry stories! have a great day! much love, peace, and respect to all!
My first post. I go way back with the Grateful Dead. I first got "it" with the Live/Dead album. I've been to over 200 shows from Ca. to NY since the early 70's. My experience and that of the many folks I know is that with the 87 success of Touch of Grey the whole scene of psychedelic tripsters really disappeared in the tidal gulf of Mtv kids, yuppies, jocks and nostalgic classic rock fans. The shows were musically still pretty good but sheesh, socially, they became a nightmare for old goats. I'm still involved but it is mainly to get updates on the various vault releases, download from the archive and meet up with the very tiny minority that still carry a psychedelic/organic ethic. That's why I reemerged to catch some SCI gigs. May they never get popular with the mainstream.
String Cheese huh? good to know! It makes sense, the whole getting a hit means mainstream popularity. i guess i never really thought of it that way. it's good to know you're still out there and still want to carry on the ways. well much love to you! talk to you again soon!
i loved to hear them on am radio and hoped i wouldnt go under a bridge. word up you other oldies know what i mean, he he
Some of us r just hanging wherever. I never got to go on tour myself but lots of my friends used to One of them is living on a mountain in New Mexico One is living in Arkansas amongst our bro and sis there They are all over dude. I helped my friend make stuff to sell at shows and watched her place and kid so she could tour some. Its hard to go on tour with a band once you get past a certain age. Life is a journey and some of our journeys have taken us down other paths. We still buy the recordings and listen. We still support the band. Cricket Shadowolf
