im pretty depressed because by beloved bass has broken after my strap unhooked and the guitar fell on the ground ramming the amp lead into the instrument. After i finnally got it out i un-screwed the bass and saw some jagged-up metal and a broken green chip thing which the lead seemed to have broken through where the lead plugges into the guitar...:(

anyone got any idea if this is hard to fix or how much it would end up costing me?

Deepest condolences from a fellow Bassist.( Mine is a 68 Fender Telecaster, have had it since 1972). You should be able to go to Radio Shack and get a new plug in. Is this what it looked like.

If it is it's around 4 or 5 bucks. Take note where the wires go and solder them back on.

not sure how much it would cost, but take it to someone, and it should be fairly simple to get a new plug installed. That way, instead of just doing it yourself, they can check out the other parts that could have been damaged too. Shouldn't cost that much..... sure beats buying a new bass.

I don't advise going to radio shack. Go to a shop and ask for a CTS input jack... stereo I suppose? Or have them saulder it.

Personaly I think it is time you begin lookin' for a guitar tech. I know it may cost a lot more but in the end it is better to have the connection.

Guitar tech????????? C'mon it's a basic simple fix. As far as Radio Shack I've been buying my stuff there for over 30 years.

If he knew how, he'd done it already. He doesn't so he need knowledgeable guidance.

Not to mention I've seen home jobs that would make me cry.
