The design on the lid apparently looks like the word ÔAllahÕ in Arabic.
One customer told the Sun the design was ÒsacreligiousÓ. BK says: ÒAs a result of feedback our supplier is amending the design.Ó MCBÕs Inayat Bunglawala: ÒWe commend the sensitive and prompt action to prevent any hurt being caused to the religious sensibilities of others.Ó

It beggars belief that the Muslim Council of Britain keep giving credence to these stupid stories with their own quotes. For godÕs sake, it only gives the impression that all Muslims are hyper-sensitive. BK should never have changed this, I havenÕt seen a single campaign or email about this issue.

christian laws come directly from god and are therefore applicable to all humanity....

btw, some of the best art has come from islamic countries....muslims are permitted to create art, and there are several VERY traditional ways that muslims will create art...they generally do not depict humans or animals, but this rule is considered by many to be somewhat open to interpretation and many times people ARE portrayed, but without faces.

in rare circumstances i think the faces are put in, too. and i'm pretty sure photography is allowed, or else we wouldnt know what osama bin laden looked like.

  5. so do christian laws, and mormon laws, and jewish law.....

smoe of them contradict each other horribly.....

    That's pretty arrogant.

Don't assume I think God exists.

And sure as hell don't assume that my drawing of an ice cream cone is meant as a sacrilege to your way of life. I don't even speak your language.

    AHAHAHA. what a great thread.

    nesta's not religious....

wait, you're not religious, are you, nesta?

anyway, it DOES look like the same word. i can't see how modifying it would be bad for business...

I think that the community there should realise there's no deliberate offense and stand down the JIHAD they had commanded against it.

I dunno. I think they should get a life.

    Where does it end?

Ontario almost adopted shari'a. Only some last minute sense prevented THAT one.

this happened a few years back with Nike Air shoes, the AIR logo on the back looked like it said Allah. I had some, the word embroidered to look like fire, and I have to admit, it was quite similar. Closer than this icecream logo, that's for sure.

That squiggle looked like the Arabic representation of "Allah"? Well, yeah... if you almost close your eyes, stand on your ear, forget about the non-attached squiggles, forget that the left-most 'u' isn't almost closed like in the BK pic, forget that the right-most upper stroke isn't attached to the rest like in the BK pic, etc....

You can hear the word "Satan" if you play metal songs backwards... at odd speeds... in unstructured phrasings... if you really want to hear it... if you really think you heard it...

I guess that there is now a fatwa issued against me?

Oh yeah, I forgot... Bin Laden already has that covered.
