Proof of God is everywhere, and so is Disproof of God. What are your reasons for believing or disbelieving?
Proof of God is generally subjective feelings. These feelings are unverifiable and therefore cannot be called "Proof" if you're trying to convince someone in objective terms. (I happen to think that these "feelings" of God's presence are in fact a natural psychological phenomena.) The "proof" that there is no God is obvious. Reality lacks phenomena that cannot be explained in natural terms. Although, if there were unexplainable phenomena it would not necessarily point to God.
Religion, in my opinion is a way to control the masses. "God" is merely a metaphor for existence, life, "it". God is Buddah is Krishna is Satan is....etc,etc. None of the religions have been totally prooven. Science has been prooven, hence, I chose to believe in that.
I remain happily agnostic, basically because I don't really care if there is a god or not - and if there is a god (or something that created the universe) I don't think it cares if we exist or not either. Meaning I don't think there is some entity in the sky judging our actions on a personal level like we are somehow more important than everything else in the universe. I definitely do not believe in the christian god (too many contridictions) and in that same vein, I don't believe in greek gods, pagan gods, hindu gods...well, you can see where I am going here...
WRONG!!! ok, this may sound like mindless, closed minded religious dribble...but the first thing you must realize if you believe in science has NEVER been proven, it can only have a boat-load of evidence, through [repeatable] experiments that suport a hypothesis, and when enough evidence, from said experiments is presented, it will usually become a theory, meaning it is widly accepted in the scientific community... they teach you this in high school science, first year...a hypothesis can never be proven, only proven false id say God bless, but it would be kinda patronizing, so ill go with a simple "good day"
There is no god or higher power I believe in specifically. There may be more powerful beings than humans in the universe, but gods that watch over us and want us to worship them? I have heard or seen no evidence to convince me of such a thing. I leave it up to science to study reality, ancient texts of mythology are interesting and entertaining, but not comparable to what we learn from scientific research of the world (and universe) we live in.
So this is why I cannot understand why you consider yourself an Agnostic. It seems to me like an agnostic has some reason or hunch to believe there MIGHT be a God. But as you have pretty much accurately described the same boat I'm in, I would think you would call yourself in Atheist. Not that there is anything in the WORD. But Atheist seems more accurate, that is all.
Maybe I am an atheist, maybe I'm agnostic, I haven't put much thought into it, really. The label seems kind of moot when you don't consider yourself religious. I just know that I am not going to believe or not believe things just because I would or wouldn't like them to be true. If my beliefs (or lack therof) seem to line up more with atheisim then yeah, I am an atheist...If it quacks like a duck, right?
