Im going to re read the first one and put alot of thought into the content. I had a discussion in a class today about the book, and how intertwined the characters are and how king really goes off in this series. Any one else recomend it?

yep... up until the end of "the Wizard and the Glass". I felt it lost something after that.

Check out Insomnia, the Stand, Eye of the Dragon, Hearts of Atlantis.... other too. All interconect. Gunslinger series is central, the others just spin out from it.

I love the series though I'm not a huge fan of King normally. However from Wolves onwards I find the plot a little too convoluted. It's like he's writing for the sake of pages rather than for telling a story. Anyone else feel that way?

I'm just starting a Song for Susannah, and I've loved them all so far. But then I'm a fan of King anyway, so I really love the way he's been interconnecting his worlds through the Gunslinger series. If you read very closely, you can find Dark Tower references in most of his novels.

One hint: I recommend that anyone interested read the updated version of the first book. It still retains its tension and value, but the prose is much cleaner, and it makes better sense in relationship to the others because he corrects several lapses in names and logic.

I thought all the books were equally good. Man, once you start reading them, they just start to suck you in. Maybe the wastelands was my favorite, but I really do love them all. I couldn't wait for the last one to come out, because I had no idea how it would possible end. It is such a complex story. But I think it ended the best way it could have. Though it is so sad, to see so many loved characters die. They become like part of your family. Sigh.
