The University of Leicester is a leading UK University with a proud past and an exciting future. We deliver high quality undergraduate, postgraduate and professional education and create research that has impact internationally.

The discovery of DNA Genetic Fingerprinting and pioneering space exploration are our most famous achievements, but our world class research stretches across the arts, science, medicine, law, education, biological sciences and social sciences.

Leicester is special. It is a leading University yet it attracts students from a wide social and ethnic spectrum and delivers one of the highest student completion rates in the country. In September 2003 the Sunday Times wrote that of just five universities with a higher completion rate “none approach the diversity of Leicester’s intake”.

just cuz i live in Leicester..and the buildings look nice..

right both me and hippy_girl are at the university of wales lampeter

and its the most rockinest hippiest place on the planet,

if you want somewhere where you can have a great time, live in a really close community, have a great selection of decent small pubs, plus a great student union, with loads going on, easily available drugs, country side, amazing coffee shops, fun and frolocks, plus great music, lots of friendly people, including one guy who owns a forest and a slection of wacky coloured taxis! and a decent university (third oldest in the country!) then lampeter is totally the place for you!

trust me, it fucking rocks, if you ever visit it looks really shite and small

but trust me, you've only gotta live there for a day to find that its infact the best place on the planet

the women tend to vary between munters and really fit, either in extreams or otherwise, the men are same:) like anywhere really

oh and im sure dandy will vouch for it as well, even tho shes going to the faceless university of aber tommorow, good luck by the way

Aberystwyth Uni in Wales, it is awesome living here by the beautiful ocean and surrounded by countryside yet there is lots of students here and a town atmosphere if you seek it, quite hippyish well compared to the cities anyway.

Bah, that's just a money making scheme for them:p International students have to pay tuition fees of nearly £10,000 next to our £1100. Universities are often keen to take on a lot of international students for this reason. Not only is it a money making scheme for universities, but it also means that the international students who come over here to study are almost exclusively very rich. So that brings down the diversity of the notion.

For example, there are quite a few Venezuelan students at Cambridge. The majority of Venezuela's population are poor, working class or peasants, and often landless. The majority support Chavez, who was elected into office on a ticket of land reform and welfare for the poor, and is doing a very good job at just that, to the anger of the rich. The only Venezuelans we see at Cambridge, however, are the rich minority, who are violently anti-Chavez, pro-American and strongly conservative. All thanks to our tuition fees system....

PS. Come to Cambridge, I don't need Wikipedia to sell it to you, it's simply the best *queue music* better than all the rest....

LSE is wayyyyy better then Cambridge..
Im not trying to sell my uni just because its famous unlike some people *cough* bumface *cough*...

Its an amazing uni and very political..
The largest political society is the green party..
Its the leading institute for International Relations in the world..and for social sciences (that may just be in my opinion)
    Monika lewinsky is studying here:O
it has a nicer smell then cambridge (due to it not having a certain smelly resident)

Third for the social sciences actually, after, ahem, Cambridge and Oxford :p Anyway your uni's famous too smelly. I'm glad it's less Cuntservative than here too, there are far too many Tories about at Cam....

    Hi
    Which uni?

Anywhere other than Leeds is my recommendation.
Why ?Because it lives off a decades old reputation but there's fuck all teaching and more importantly the senior staff are virtually all complete arseholes.

I wouldnt go there if they paid me millions and let me tie up Claudia Schiffer and bone her senseless ... any time I wanted.

Best thing to do is look at things like the Sunday Times( crap paper otherwise) guide and book.
Also do the visits /open days there.

do you want a campus or a city university?
is academic status important or do u just want 3 years of getting shitfaced?
Also what are your career plans after uni?( Mcdonalds or Pizzaland for lots of students unfortunately: ( )

If youve got a chosen profession planned speak to young and older people in already in that field.

FInally if youre planning on going to uni in the hope of getting the best job youre capable of , then my commiserations to you

Mmy advice is , get in a time machine , get a rich , inbred , old school tie mummy and daddy and go to eton.

Otherwise , why dont u just get a job delivering pizzas 3 years early and save the tuition fees money and spend it on booze , clothes , birds and drugs!;)

Sorry to sound so unethusiastic to you:)
Any people here want to become graduate trainees for an international courier company?
Job includes free travel to and from exotic South American destinations.
Please forward a CV and an essay in 500 words why you believe the law relating to certain controlled pharmaceuticals should be relaxed.
Also , state whether you wish to apply to our Liverpool , Rotterdam , Marbella , or Bogota office.
Package includes a six / seven figure salary OR permanent exclusive accomodation in hotels by Royal Appointment.
    ;)

Cardiff! Its a great city, some ace nights out there and theres plenty of places to go to go to once the clubs are closed (if you like climbing and out doorsy type acivities), theres plebty of interesting people to meet out there aswell (i've met a few of them). I'm not sure about the uni, I never went, but I hear its quite good. Brilliant city anyway, if not then aberystwyth, if not there then somewhere else in wales, fantastic country.
