I'm planning my dreads soon, but I have a delimma. My hair is incredibly thick. When it gets long, it doesn't grow down. It grows out into a pseudo-afro. can I grow natural dreads with my hair? Or if I do, will they grow out and not down?

Thanks for your help, brothers and sisters

once they start knotting up they should be weighted down..my hair's kinda short, so my dreadies stuck out a bit at first, but they've calmed down :) ..how long's your hair right now?

you shouldn't have a problem..when i grow my hair out, it does become an afro. Like someone said before..the weight and length should bring it down
