does anyone like it? i just got into it...it's different. i like Burzum because it's ambient black metal. it's so simple, yet so intense and loud and emotional. my friend explained it to me. most black metal bands are norweigan, and their history is so angst ridden what with being invaded all the time, so that's where the anger comes from that is conveyed through their music. its alot to take in at first, but after a while, it's so rhythmic that it's trance like. i totally love it. does anyone else like these kinds of bands? burzum, graveland, darkthrone, satyricon, cradle of filth, enthralled, daath, children of bodom.....even if you dont think you'd like black metal or death metal..whatever...check it out. you might like it.

I'm a black metal fan. I'm into bands like Graveland, Massemord, Bewitched, Khold, Enthroned, Mayhem, Burzum, Dissection, Antaeus, Emperor, and Dark Funeral just to name a few.

Yeah, i like black metal as well. I'm not listening as much to it as i used to do, though..
I agree with your description, black metal can be very simple but (especially live) very intense.

I believe the norwegian people were the invaders though, not the invaded, most of the time. I like the folklore of the scandinavian countries as well, and the black metal with folk influences i do like even more.
Although i do like the black metal of Satyricon, Darkthrone, Horna and Emperor, i'm even more fond of albums like Dimmu Borgir's Stormblast, Keep of Kalessin's Through times of war and In times before the light by Covenant (now Kovenant).

Also the metal by scandinavian bands like Thyrfing is great, check out their album Valdr galga for example! :)

Cradle of filth is not black metal anymore in my opinion, they don't really have that black metal atmosphere around them. I still like their first albums though.

it's not about how hard music is to play it is how good it sounds, ever thought about how hard it is to play three triangles with your eyes closed... but i don't think that'll sound cool :)

Haven't really listened to black metal so can't really say anything authoritative. They all strike me as nihilistic psychos, but that's pretty much just my first glance impression, I hear some are pretty messed up folk too. But hey, all that should matter is the music anyway.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL in my opinion it sounds fuckin good.

I can understand people having problems with the sound quality on some black metal recordings tho.

Black metal was the first type of music i got into about 5 years ago..
cradle of filth have gotta be my favourite band out of em all, their midian album is awesome...

also Burzum :) burzum isnt a badn by the way, its a guy...he is in prison for stabbing someone form that band mayhem (i think) and all his albums under the name burzum are made i his cell right now as we speak....

    When night falls
    She cloaks the world
    In inpenetratable darkness
A chill rises from the ground
    And contaminates the earth
    Suddenly
    Life has new meaning

Dimmu borgir are also a very good band...i havent really listened to their earlier stuff...but puritanical euphoric misanthropia is a great album.

There are sooo many black metal bands around...most are from Norway, but find local music websites and check out local bands...thats what i did and i found a whole group of bands form around where I live in england.

how can anyone say that black metal lacks talent? blasts are one thing but dont forget the guitar techniques. so much speed and precision is involved. i dont know how anyone can say that especially when you're such a big fan of "punk," mike rotch.

Is that what Nightwish is considered? I really like Nightwish, the Gathering, Lacuna Coil, Lacrimosa......I think that is one form of black metal.

nope, nightwish are kinda like mild goth rock or as some people call them "melodic metal"...and i think the same goes for the other bands there, apart from lacrismo who ive never heard of.

you know black metal if youve heard it...cradle of filth are the most famousest black metal band going because theyre not really from norway or anything, and their lead singer Dani Filth sings a lot differently to other black metal artists......then again cradle of filth are from Suffolk in England..and most of the black metal clan come from places such as Norway and Sweden.

[IMG]oh and by the way, nightwish fucking rock for those of you who havent heard them...

they use opera vocals with metal guitars and really haunting keyboard sounds...and they did an awesome cover of the phantom of the opera..

All those black/death metal bands are all trying to be harder or faster than each other. How boring to want to sound the same as another band. Be innovative or don,t bother. If you want to hear true metal, with heartfelt lyrics, then check out any 'neurosis' album, and then put all your otherb metal albums away, because they just won,t compare.
