I am a newbe at this but have really done my research I have found something that really really works. I have 5 plants growing and the are 10 days old now. I have them Under a 2 foot floro fixture, the trick is, is that I have one full spectrum floro and an aqurium light that I bought a petsmart for like $15. This Is a light used for fishes and plants in aquriums, this floro gives off only the light from the blue spectrum which helps out photosythesis,

Plants need light from the blue end of the spectrum, as well. Blue light stimulates chlorophyll production more than any other colour, promoting thick leaves, stocky stems and strong vegetative growth. Carotenoids, the yellow-orange pigment in plants, absorb blue light and control leaf fall and fruit ripening. Riboflavin, containing another pigment, absorbs violet light and influences “phototropism,” the movement of plant foliage in response to a light source. Once I figure out how to get pictures on this site I will show what I stumbled upon. The plant Are growing unbelivably fast ( faster than usal) and are very thick and not slanky at all. I will continue to monitor the plants under the lights for the next week or two and keep u all informed.
Thanks alot hope u like the info:p:)

    Not a bad read that.
I use the same type bulbs for the first 3-4 days after which you should be on HPS.
Next step you want thick leaves and stalks use an osolating fan.
HPS running 24hrs a day will doudle if not treble the growth rate of your plants.
Florecence is only for the first 2wks I dont even use them that long.
Buy HPS for all your growing needs.
If you want to VEG a plant to a massive size before flowering METAL HALIDE.

Use a full-spectrum HPS bulb for all your growing needs.

fluroscents work for both vegetive and flowering, using warm tubes and blue spectrum on the 12/12 cycle should grow decent enough pot, for personal, for profit I would use HPS. If I ahd the money...

    Finnaly- people are coming around!
(See about a million post on the importance of blue's in the archives)

But you overlooked one thing- the effect of blue light on cannabiniod evolution.

Also, aqarium lights are inefficent. There are better flouro sources of blue.
