I was just wondering, I know about the legality of them and stuff like that, but I wanted to know what's the intended purpose of them? I know they are "research chemicals", but who is supposed to be researching them? Are they produced/developed for their psychadelic effects, or do they just happen to be psychadelic? Who, if anyone, is doing studies using these chemicals, and are more being developed? Yeah that's a lot of questions but I'm a curious guy.

Wow! I was just about to ask this question but happened to see your thread. I've been wondering that ever since I discovered that there were chemicals that can get you high, but yet they aren't illegal and that there are people who reserch them, but how come they are open for the public to buy? It's so strange. It's like why are they here for?

I hope someone can answer cause like you I'm curious, but just a girl.....If I happen to find out, I'll let you know.

They're newly developed chemicals (or newly isolated, in some cases) that have yet to be spotted causing large amounts of trouble...since they're so new, they're sold to even independent research firms because of the lack of data collected on them.

That's the reason people are so hush-hush about them; most people are worried about them being bought up by some freckly, googly-eyed kid with their parents' credit card and being resold at ridiculous profit margins as Ecstasy, causing mass panic reactions with the consequences of emergency scheduling...where it'll stay until they Schedule it officially, which is what always happens with the more exotic chems (like 2C-B/2-CT-7 and AMT/DMT). ;)

Most of the research chemicals you hear of were developed by Dr. Alexander Shulgin, the same guy who synthesized MDMA. It was emergency scheduled a category II drug around 1990 because our government wanted all the power for themselves. This was before MDMA was put through various tests. When it was finally placed though animal and human experiments they claimed it put holes in your brain. They were wrong, but stuck with that story.

To put it short, a possible depression and clinically beneficial medication was placed under schedule I controlled substances by the US GOvt.

All of the other synthetic research chemicals were basically overshadowed because of the craze over MDMA and they are still legal (in the US) with exception of a few. Alexander Shulgin believes these chemicals can aid people in need of psyciatric help. It may help open people's subconsciousn thoughts and help clinical professionals better understand the human mind, and moreover help the patient. That is possible beneficial effects of RC's.

They have been studies VERY little, if at all so who knows if they really work. I guess you have to try them yourself to find out. :p
