The grateful dead have four (and most likey many more) particularly strong jam transition songs: saint stephen > the eleven, china cat suflower > i know you rider, scarlet begonias > fire on the mountain, and the Alligator > China Cat Sunflower > Eleven > Alligator > Caution jam in Dick's Picks 22. of these four which do you think is best? im gonna go with scarlet begonias > fire on the mountain
first off, dicks picks 22 kicks major ass....i just got it a few weeks ago my favorite is the saint stephen>the eleven
If you want killer tune/jam transitions, check these out....2 of my hometown shows! 11/9/79 - War Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo, NY Set 2: Dancin> Franklin's, Estimated> He's Gone> Drumz> Wharf Rat> Miracle> Bertha> Good Lovin 4/17/84 - Niagara Falls Convention & Civic Center, Niagara Falls, NY Set 2: Help> Slipknot> Franklin's> Woman Smarter, Eyes> Drumz> Black Peter> Throwing Stones> NFA
i have a bootleg from a cornell univ set(77 i think)... where they have the scarlet->fire jam... i must say its a great jam
lots of good examples of that song... dont forget the whole cryptical envelopment jam... quite nice really
I gotta go with: China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider Many early sets have that in it, and I totally dig it.
