What luck, hurricane Rita is heading toward an area of texas with 21 gasoline producing facilities, at the least gas will rise to 4$ a gallon but most likely will rise to 5. New Orleans is also going to be hit again, say goodbye to everything that was left. This is just really bad luck. If gas rises to 5$ a gallon, nobody is going to have the money to travel like they usually do, my guess is that people are going to be driving only to go to work and back and necessary things like that. At least here in Florida, we have basically no public transportation and it is much too hot and humid to walk or ride a bike, I'm not looking forward to this.
Even if it doesn't damage anything they'll still be charging $5-10 a gallon. Expect a return of the Arkansas Credit Card.
A length of clear fuel resistant hose. You dip one end into the gas tank, suck on the other end til gas flows out, spit the gas in your mouth out, and drain said tank into a convenient container. Escape with gas.
you mean a siphon. Gotcha. I've always heard it called a Mexican credit card, but didn't make the connection either way.
my car was syphoned at my sister in law's wedding just a couple weekends ago. the crackers in farmington call it the navajo credit card.
hahaha yea it's already happening, i actually know a ciuple anarcho-punks that have been syphoning gas but from big business and stuff in my town, they have this idea to steal gas and then give it out for free. they believe they are some type of robinhoods. it's actually pretty crazy
Thanks for making me paranoid...now I'm not going to be able to sleep until I have a locking gas cap.
I don't want to be judgemental, but can't help but point out who DIDN'T sign the Koyoto Protocol and who didn't give a flying f*ck about global warming? I hope they come to realise some day that poor people, homeless people and dead people can't consume anything. I feel so much for those people...
Even though I know that Katrina and Rita were monster storms, I have to wonder how much the govt. is using them as a reason to create a "shortage" (even though there may be a genuine shortage to some degree) of oil so that they can jack the prices up through the roof. Admittedly, I don't know much about oil refineries, and how much wind/water damage they can sustain before there is a genuine problem (and I know that many of the employees in those places fled to safety, thankfully, and that is why oil production is down), but I tend to think the whole thing is being magnified to oil companies' benefit. I just don't trust much of what I hear on the news anymore...there always seems to be a hidden agenda...
I do not know about the hidden agenda thing - one thing that people in power have worried about every since Carter is the effect on the American public on the loss of cheap gas. They have kept gas prices artificially low for years. Ask any of the non US members here what they pay for gas. I think we will see high gas prices because the world is running out of oil but I think what ever party lets them rise by very much can kiss the next election goodbye. That is if Bush lets us have another election. By the way, in Arkansas a siphon is referred to as a Texas credit card.
Apparently, they're keeping schools in Georgia closed for a few days to lighten the demand for gas, and so they can ship some to the affected areas. It sucks. All the gas stations here in Houston are closed and probably won't be open for a day or two. The whole thing is stupid. There is no reason for every gas station in town to be out of gas.
After Katrina, there wasnt much gas, there would be lines at stations all the way up off ramps and spilling on to the interstate. Even the other day, i saw a station run out of gas, near a month later. in the aftermath, people had to wait in lines for hours and hours and could only get 5 gallons at a time. Its shitty, because people never prepare and then freak the fuck out at the last minute and that causes lots of problems. There was even shoot outs here over gas, which is retarded, gunplay at gas stations cant be the smartest thing you could do.
if disliking someone for race makes you a racist, does disliking someone for nationality make you a nationalist?
you are kinda being judgemental, though. the people worst affected by these storms are the ones who have the least power and least education.
