    hey

this is my first time when trying to grow and there some stuff i'm confused about???

i'm told i need a soil with normal levels of nitrogen potassium and phospherous and with a ph of 7. despite reading the packaging i can't find any of this information on the side of the soil.

would just normal indoor plant soil suffice? if not then what should i get and where?

also, when feeding the plant i'm told i need high levels of nitrogen and normal levels of the other two in in the vegetative stage and higher levels of phosperous in the flowering stage. what brands should i use and where can i get them?

    thanks

There are a plethargy of soils and nutrients out there that are suitable. My only advice would be to find a quality organic mix that can be found locally and add 20-30% perlite. Nothing with "time release" ferts or "moisture control".
"IMO" organic nutrients are best/easiest(especially for beginners) and stand less chance of over feeding or mucking up the ph.
N-P-K are listed on nutrient labels

Fox farms ocean forest soil is hands down the best one can buy. There ferts are great as well.Earth juice makes good ferts as well.

ff ocean forest is great and simple to use with foxfarm products, growbig bigbloom and tigerbloom mixed according to their charts yield very exellent results.
Powerflower is another great soil, with a little longer soil life but i reccomend adding a touch of perlite to it for better drainage.
And i have heard rave reviews about "dr earth" brand organic mixes, though have yet to try it.
As to the rest, they are not what i would use.
supersoil has it's uses but is a bit too "chemmy" . In other words- it is not totally organic and has a little chemical in it.Mostly mined minerals though, so not real bad like MG products.stay away from anything with "miracle grow" on the label.

    cheers dudes

    heres what i was recommendined:

Canna Terra Vega : for vetative stage

Canna Terra Flores : for flowering stage.

(these two have two tops, is this because its a grow and bloom set up? if this is the case do i only needs to buy one cause after my 400W HPS i'm a little skint)

Canna Additive Trace Mix :for additives.

am i buying the right stuff?

my choice used to be pro mix bags ( get it at home depot)which is basically peat moss and vermiculite/perlite. it has no nutrients in it but provides excellent soil structure. from there i used a electrical conductivity meter to mix my nutes to 900 ppm, and fertilized evry second watering (dont fert a dry plant - you will scorch it). i cheaped out and used 20 20 20 for veg, and then used miracle bloom (which is like 2 52 10 or some shit). i got very nice flowers with it, but the last 2 weeks of flower - no fert! if you can, flush the pots with clean water during that time.. lots of run thru.

    anyway - worked for me.

then theres ph ing your nute solution to 6.8 using ph up or down. - prolly worth it, but requires a ph meter.
