having peoples opinion is good, but not always the best. i also consider myself a writer; althought what i write might suck, i don't care cos its just the way i express myself. keep on writting someday(hopefully soon) people will start writting. see! i did it.
i just joined yesterday and still have much to read... but i think your poems are good. please keep writing them and keep posting them. namaste, doug
I think your poems are good too, and don't worry too much about what everyone else says. As long as you are happy with them then that's all that matters.
Aww thanks for all the positive responses, guys! And thanks to you, too, BroRiffic, for being honest. Peace and hugs!!
no moonjava, your poetry is VERY good, in my opinion. i have the same problem with this board. i get very little responses, either.
This is an excellent point. What goes around comes around. And do have patience with us. We also have poems to write, and other poems to read. Peace.
Moonjava, When you post poetry onto boards such as these you have to take the rough with the smooth. Lots of people are completely wrapped up in their own writings, so much so that they seldom take the time to read other people's work. It's a case of vanity looking for an audience in many respects. As regard as whether your poetry sucks or not, well just think about music. Does everybody like the same type of music ? Poetry is no different. I happen to like what you write, but it is never going to be for everyone. That is simply a fact of life. Plus, from time to time, you will find vindictive people who will just slag you off because they can do so from behind a veil of anonymity that the internet affords. Whenever you open yourself up and post onto boards such as these, you have to be thick-skinned. In fact, in the world of writing it pays to be thick-skinned anyway. Especially if you are looking to one day get published. You will likely find yourself rebuffed 9 times out of 10 by most publishers. But the thing is not to get discouraged and keep trying. JK Rowling was reputedly turned down by over 50 publishers when she first wrote the Harry Potter book. We all know the history to the rest of it. I am actually a published poet (but only recently) and did post one poem on this board to test the water. To date it has been viewed a mere 5 times and did not generate any comments. Not entirely unexpected in my opinion. If you really crave to get feedback on your poetry, then I would suggest that you join a dedicated poetry/writing website. There you will find many other like-minded and receptive colleagues who share the same passion. Furthermore, for the most part, you will receive encouragement or constructive criticism. There are many such sites on the internet. I personally post to Authorsden but that is just my preference. Whatever you do, remember why you are writing. For most it is a self-expression that they feel needs to be written down. But remember that in the main, the writing is probably for your own gratification or to exorcise your ghosts. That way, even if nobody likes your writings, at least YOU still get satisfaction from it. Hope this helps you. "Cherish your dreams and they will come true.
