Basic Card Symbols

A man hanging by one foot from a Tau cross - sometimes from a bar or tree. His free leg is always bent to form a "4," his face is always peaceful, never suffering. Sometimes his hands are bound, sometimes they dangle. Sometimes coins fall out of his pockets or hands.

Basic Tarot Story

The Fool settles beneath a tree, intent on finding his spiritual self. There he stays for nine days, without eating, barely moving. People pass by him, animals, clouds, the wind, the rain, the stars, sun and moon. On the ninth day, with no conscious thought of why, he climbs a branch and dangles upside down like a child, giving up for a moment, all that he is, wants, knows or cares about. But timeless as this moment of clarity seems, he realizes that it will not last. Very soon, he must right himself, and when he does, things will be different. He will have to act on what he's learned. For now, however, he just hangs, weightless as if underwater, observing, absorbing, seeing.

Basic Tarot Meaning

With Neptune (or Water) as its planet, the Hanged Man is perhaps the most fascinating card in the deck. It reflects the story of Odin who offered himself as a sacrifice in order to gain knowledge. Hanging from the world tree, wounded by a spear, given no bread or mead, he hung for nine days. On the last day, he saw on the ground runes that had fallen from the tree, understood their meaning, and, coming down, scooped them up for his own. All knowledge is to be found in these runes.

The Hanged Man, in similar fashion, is a card about suspension, not life or death. This is a time of trial or meditation, selflessness, sacrifice, prophecy. The Querent stops resisting; instead he makes himself vulnerable, sacrifices his position or opposition, and in doing so, gains illumination. Answers that eluded him come clear, solutions to problems are found. He sees the world differently, has almost mystical insights. This card can also imply a time when everything just stands still, a time of rest and reflection before moving on. Things will continue on in a moment, but for now, they float, timeless.

Thirteen's Observations

Neptune is spirituality, dreams, psychic abilities, and the Hanged Man is afloat in these. He is also 12, the opposite of the World card, 21. With the World card you go infinitely out. With the Hanged Man, you go infinitely in. This card signifies a time of insight so deep that, for a moment, nothing but that insight exists. When I am feeling particularly in tune it seems all I have to do is say something, anything and people accept it as truth. Actual Truth. I express my opinion on God or creation or a philosophy of life and the response is "Wow! that's so deep." or "I never thought of it that way!" and I have actually changed people's deep belief in something based solely on my opinion at the moment. I often don't believe what I'm saying 5 minutes after I've said it, it just felt right at the time. And people have changed their lives on my whim. (Seriously not exagerating here.) I don't mislead people on purpose and wouldn't try to con someone though. Also... I could be the fool in that I am looking for all those things - a solution, a career, a love life, a job. oh, and the fool is probably a card you see alot in your readings ? that could be how you relate to it, it deals with something that you are dealing with at the time, or even long term. so you relate with the fool,.

 

I only try to shock people when they agree with everything I say- in which case the answer I'm looking for is "NUH UH!". And yeah... I think most people I know wouldn't really be shocked at anything I'd do.

OOps! Blind love irritates me and causes me to do or say things that get basically the same reaction I said above - "NUH UH!" And if that doesn't work .. well... some relationships have ended. (Off to find another man susceptible to blind love.) Maybe I just need to find someone born on the same day as me.

Hmm.. people do sometimes come to me for advice, but they are more likely to ask how to spell something or "What does this mean?". I am facinated by human characteristics.. but I doubt I'd make a good psychologist because I'm likely to tell whoever is talking to me that whatever they do is totally ok with me and might in fact be normal. (Unless of course they were running around killing people in which case I'd call the cops and have nothing further to do with them.) I really don't like to be the center of attention- afraid someone like me will be there trying to figure ME out.
No addictions here other than caffiene, nicotine and chocolate and I can give up two of those.

I use all sorts of materials in my craft hobbies and don't feel happy when I'm not being creative. I rarely take real risks, but other people may view some of my actions as risky. I don't because I know the probable outcome. I know I have potential, I don't use it though. I rarely initiate unless you count getting the other person to start first as initiating. (Like you wanna do something and you know someone else would also wanna do the same thing if you give them a little tiny nudge in that direction so you bring up a topic that would of course lead to them initiating whatever you want to do. ) I don't know about communication or wit.
I hesitate. Making decisive choices .. well I can't decide what to be when I grow up or how to get to be a grown up even though I'm 30. Time passes so quickly and I use so little of it to actual accomplish anything in. I'm told I'm talented in this and that, I have no idea what to do with the talent or how to expand the talent in any way. I have the worst co-ordination, a bad self image at times and I do give up.
I know this is a really looong post, but I want to be honest about what I think is "dead on" and what I'm not so sure about.

 

I thought it was really cool. I don't know "Ghost World", I saw a couple of scenes once.. I never remember my readings. I don't know why. The people I read for will come back later and tell me I was so right about what I said and I don't even remember anything they tell me I said. Even an hour later- *pst* gone. Can't remember what is said when others read for me either.
